Congratulations on your approval. IIRC, Cap 1 CLI's are after 6 mos and are SP's. The Amazon Visa is backed by Chase and is a hp.

Hello,

I left the garden today, and was approved for two of the four cards. I was approved for Capital One $1,000.00 and Amazon Visa $500.00. It feels good to get some real cards, my question is often should I request a credit limit increase. Does anyone know if the requests are hard or soft pulls. Thanks for any help, I am on my way back to my garden until I apply for a new car loan in the spring!

Thanks!

+1 to everything lexie said, and also grats on your approval.

Chase seems to be more willing to do auto increases if theres a pattern of heavy usage, so use it well and hopefully they'll give you an auto CLI.

To initiate it you do have to ring the number on the back of the card and request it first. If you aren't happy with the result then either ask to be transferred to lending or ring the credit analyst number on here. If you ring the analyst first they will tell you you have to start the request with customer service first and they can look at it after.

I got my Amazon.com rewards card from Chase and they're pretty stingy with any CLI (manual or auto). I started out with $300 in 2010 and I'm now at $1000 after begging them for increases every six months. I'll ask for at lease 1k every 6 months and they will usually only give me $250. Of course YMMV, but I haven't become a fan of Chase since starting with them.
