How long will Chase typically leave inactive accounts open?

I asked the same question to one the CSR @ chase when I was questioning them about upgrading my Freedom to a siggy, I was "told" (YMMV) that they wouldn't close the account if it had been used at least once in the year that it was to expire.

My Freedom card had been inactive since Nov. 2010. I received a letter from Chase in March 2013 saying that my card was due to expire in 2 months and since I hadn't used it in 2 years, they were going to close it unless I called to keep it open.

BUT ( and this is where YMMV comes in), this was a very old account with a decent CL of 25.5K, so not sure if this is their standard procedure.

I have a similar question. I have heard it said that with most CC that have and annual fee, the issuer is less likely to close due to inactivity. Any truth to this rumor?

Sponge
