Barclaycard Rewards - Will I Get It?

What are your thoughts on me getting the Barclaycard Rewards card?

Not so much worried about my score but more or less my thin file. --- I am a full time student so should I give student cards a look?

Here's the breakdown:

TRANS Fico is now 711

1 Secured CC - CL $300 - $3 Bal - Card only 2 months old.

0 Collections

Average Account Age: 6 years, 1 month

Length of Credit History: 7 years, 11 months

50k student loans -- All deferred (still in school) (2 late payments from 2011 when I took a semester off school)

2 Inquiries in past 2 years

I think you will but for a low limit possibly (less than 1k) I have the same card and had lower scores than you do. I was approved for 1500 but I also had a merrick 1.4k and credit one 650 at the time. With less than 9% util. The only thing I see is they might not like the low trade line that you have. Good Luck!

I think so- I was approved for $1,300 and my wife was approved for $2,000 and her scores are lower than mine are.

I think you have a good chance to be approved. Best of luck, post results if/when you app. If approved don't app anywhere else for a while

@JamesKnox- Yes I was approved by BoA and Cap1 prior to app'ing the Barclaycard- it was an instant online approval.

I called Barclays recon after I was denied and they said they needed to see history (6+ months) of a major credit card. Whether or not the secured card will do I am not sure of. Best of luck though!

+1 to above. A credit score is not everything. You will be in much better shape if you hold onto your one credit card for at least 6 months.

I'm not sure how Discover is with thin files- what about their IT Student card?

Back when they were offering the More instead of the IT (last August), I applied for the student card with an empty credit history and was approved for $500. Now that I've graduated, it has graduated with me - currently at $2k.
