Saks Upgraded to World Elite MC w/ 1 HP

Thought I'd share my recent experience since I've read posts stating that it would / could be 3 hard pulls to upgrade a Saks card to a World Elite MC.

About 2 weeks ago, called Saks for a CLI for the upcoming holiday sales. Asked for whatever they were willing to give so got increased from 4k to 10k but somehow got easily convinced to try to upgrade my account. Since I only have 1 other Mastercard, said why not.

Applied online later that night and waited for all the notorious Cap 1 inquiries to hit. Next day, got a Score Watch alert for a HP on EQ. Checked online app status and saw approval message for the World Elite MC.

This week, checked Experian CR, got Credit Karma update and still no additional HP's. I guess they only did 1 HP from EQ.

So it makes me wonder if you apply online for the upgrade, it's only 1 HP but in store apps result in 3 HP's?

Just to add, dumb me didn't realize you can't use the MC credit line portion at all at Saks if you've maxed out on the store credit line. I found this out from a CSR after I received the card and called in to ask how it would work with Saks reward points if I got into a shopping frenzy and go over my Saks limit and need to access the MC side.

After he explained how it works, I jokingly replied, "Haha, I should've asked for a higher increase on the store CL last week then". He said, "Let me see what I can do" and came back and gave me another CLI to 20k. It was definitely a dumb luck moment for me.

Thanks Lexie and missjae, wanna go shopping? I would never think of spending that much in a month at a department store but he offered and I just couldn't say no. I think it's time for me to do some gardening before I get easily convinced to do anything else.

Way to go! That's a very, very nice upgrade and definitely worth a HP! Just be careful lol, that kind of limit and Saks is a dangerous combo.

Thanks all. Forgot to tell everyone about the great sign up/upgrade bonus: you get a $25 Saks Gift Card after you use your MC for the first time. Hahaha, I thought it was hilarious that a high end retailer would consider that a sign up bonus. I can't think of much you can buy at Saks for that amount except maybe a chocolate bar or a bottle of nail polish. But a bonus is a bonus so I will go buy some ice cream with my Mastercard and eat it with my chocolate bar from Saks.
