CITIBANK APPs

So my big sis applied for the Citi Diamond preferred on friday night, receive a message said her application need to be reviewed further. She called the backdoor number today(2numbers) and all they said was please wait 7-10 for their respond. Anyone ever has this situation? Is there anyway to speed up the process?

not really the same situation but i applied at citi often the past couple months to try and get me a credit card with them. i basically got the "stop applying already, damn it". suffice to say, i dont think they want my business LOL. i find them tough cookies to try and get in with.

You can try to talk to the credit department to see if they can expedite it. If they can't, you will have to wait then. Sometimes it may just be that they need to verify your ID. Chase does this as well sometimes.

YMMV greatly. But i got a preapproved mailer, applied, instant approval for $500. Upon activation, asked for 3k, but was told it would be a hard pull so I backed out. Did it myself online and got denied. Called the EO and got automatically approved. The rep said he saw no reason why it should have been denied.

So, in short, my experience is they are a generous lender...and my credit aint all that great. 2 baddies and a collection from 4 to 6 years ago

My mother had this happen when she applied for the Simplicity. She call the back door number and was also told to wait for the letter, but that it was still being reviewed. They called her a day or two before she received the letter to verify information and approved her.

Call the credit number. Citi doesn't really have an EO # but they do have an Executive Office. So if denied, contact them.

When I apped for the CITI Simplicity card last month, I got an instant denial. But when I called the backdoor number, they said my application wasn't denied but needed further review (fraud alert is active). Anyway, they verified my info and approved my card same day for 3.5k. I would wait for the email or snail mail letter to cite your sister's "further review" reasons.

@bigbang, call their standard customer service number and ask to be transferred to the credit department. I don't know their direct number, so i been asking regular CSRs to transfer me there when I needed to talk to them.

Those people working in that department are real analysts that are able to make decisions on CLIs, approvals, etc.

Otherwise, just call the EO. If you need the number let me know.

She did receive the email said tks for apps and wait for citi to contact within 1 week. She called the first citi backdoor number and the one that ask for app id also, no help, all of them told her to wait 7-10 days? which number did you call?

I called the Citi app status number in the backdoor thread. They can also look up your app with your SSN if you don't have the app ID. Most people don't have it unless they have the letter Citi sent when they call. Citi should have sent another email regarding the decision. You get two. I would call again. Most agents don't have a clue what their doing.

Hang in there don't get frustrated I have seen the card just show up in the mail within that time frame also

Thanks,the email they sent my sis does have the app id at the top. I guess she could try again on monday!

Wow, they pulled my sis EX and EQ, she has 6 inq on EX and 3 on EQ. Its weird though cause my cousin told me last week when he applied they only pulled EQ here in TX. Anyone know why they pull EX as well?

Borderline approval or decline, when multiple bureaus are pulled they are looking for a reason to approve. Cap 1 pulls all 3 no matter what.

Citi pulls any of the 3 major ones: most national lenders do.
