Denied for Barclays NFL Rewards??

When applying on the NFL Rewards website I got denied with a TU score of 713.

Only two inquiries in March of 2012

Several loans all showing paid in full and never late.

One auto loan over a year old with no lates and a balance under $3K

One judgement from 2008 that was payed in full back then due to fall off in 2015

One negative from Midland Funding that just came off of Experian last week and is due to fall off the other two CRA's this Dec.

I've heard of people far worse off getting approved.

What gives?

What credit cards do you currently have, what are their limits and amounts currently used?

And how long have you had each credit card?

Welcome to the forum! Barclays are notorious for denials. They are also great for reconsiderations. Call them with your file you will be approved.

I don't have any credit cards.

My current debt to income ratio is 3% according to TU.

You don't have any experience with credit cards showing, so the computer algorithm probably wasn't programmed to accept someone with that lack of data.

It sounds like you do have experience with loans and such, so calling and asking for a manual review might get you a card with a starter limit, which will grow. Thats what you need right now.

They should still be there to do a manual review. If you learn anything from this forum it is to do recons. A lot of people get turned down initially but just by calling and asking for a review get approved.

Barclays is not one to be the first to issue credit cards. If the recon doesn't work, I would suggest Discover.

Good luck with the recon! My recon attempt with them failed a couple months ago, was able to explain the 4yo BK and the recent inquiries from my bank, but they wouldn't budge on the fact that 5 of my 12 cc's were >80% util, despite my overall util being around 39% and my willingness to balance transfer some to them.

Well I must say I'm a little shocked that the recon didn't pass.
The reason they gave me was that I had no credit cards on my history.
Seriously? And what did I apply for?
He said that there were other banks that would give me a low limit CC and I could pay on that to get some history going.
Then I mentioned that all I needed was a low limit initially to get the ball rolling and he said "sorry".
I swear this whole credit business is so jacked and inconsistent.

Calling again will probably not yield a different response. Barclays, Chase and Amex are some lenders that require previous revolving credit history.

Your better options would be Cap 1 or Discover ( although the judgment might be an issue ) or a CU
