So after getting my car in August I decided I might as well and get some CC that I wanted. My approach was to try to get a CC from the major institutions to build a relationship with them.

Before the app spree I already had

Wells Fargo Rewards (1 year 9 months) 3,000 CL

AMEX Sky Blue (6 months) 10,000 CL

Best Buy (9 months) 1,000 CL

After the App Spree I added

Penfed Platinum Cash Rewards Visa 2,500 CL ( I originally joined penfed just so I could get the 1.99 used car loan, was approved for it but ford dealership beat it through ford credit by .09 %. Since I wasn't getting the car loan through them still wanted to build a relationship with them so I used the same pull for membership for the credit card because of the 5% cash back on gas, once approved found out it goes down to 3 at the end of October)

BofA Cash Back 5,000 CL ( I had to recon because the computer denied me for "insufficient history" analysis said I had good history and approved me over the phone)

Chase Freedom 4,000 CL

Amazon Rewards Visa Card ( I was denied and had to recon again, I had to explain all the recent inquiries. Analyst told me he could approve me only if I transferred some of my credit limit from Chase freedom, Amazon Visa is back by chase, so I transferred 500 from the 4,500 CL)

After the Amazon CC I stopped applying while I was still ahead. The point of this point is not to bloat but to show anybody seeking advice that sometimes you have to walk before you run, basically just that sometimes it takes time to get what you want. I didn't get my first credit card till 2011 because I could never get the wachovia student credit card, but once my foot was in the door I took care of my credit and did not abuse of it and got to where I am now.
