For Those Wondering About Barclays PC...

I called and inquired about changing my Rewards to the Arrival. As to why I did, it's because I plan to apply for the Chase Ink next year and use that card to pay for bills. I didn't necessarily want to close the account with Barclays but knew I wouldn't be using it to pay bills and such any longer. Anyway the first person I spoke with was a "relationship manager" and the first thing he said was that I could do it simply by applying. I told him no, and explained what it was I wanted to do. I was then transferred to an "account specialist". She knew what I was talking about and said I was eligibile to move to the no annual fee Arrival, which I agreed to. Just wanted to share that the process was rather painless for me. Hope this helps some of you all looking into it.

Thanks for the great info. Barclays has been a hard nut to crack for a lot of individuals that have wanted to PC. I've read a lot of threads regarding their reluctance to do so without apping a new card to replace the old. (There have also been a few successful such as yours) I hope this might be a change in their internal procedures to better provide customer service that is perceived as more consumer friendly.

Yeah I've read they are difficult to deal with as it relates to PC's. I agree in that I hope it's a change to internal procedures and not just a lucky case. It would be nice for everyone here to have to option to do so.

I had tried a few months ago to PC from the rewards MC to the Arrival but was flat out told "NO". I called just a little while ago based on your post and was transferred to an acct specialist after I asked politely. The acct specialist confirmed that she could PC me to the Arrival card, but only the no annual fee card. I actually WANT the card with the annual fee because of the 2x earning on ALL purchases. I declined the offer today, but I thought it about it later and decided I will likely call back and just take the no annual fee card. The specialist confirmed that there will be no inquiries or new accts reported on my CR, it will continue updating the existing tradeline, AND they will give 1000 bonus miles after my first purchase. I already have a card that earns me 2x on groceries and gas, so no need keeping my existing Barclays card that also gives me 2x on the same plus utilities.
