they should all work if you call and activate them, I have 3 extras not including the one I had before I ordered them and now I have the EMV so a total of 5 CSP cards all with the same CC# and code on the back.

Stupid CSP Chip Question

Okay, I know this sounds ridiculous, but here goes.

Last week I was approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred, told them I need the chip because I am going overseas, and they said it will come automatically. No problems.

So it arrives in the mail, and there is no chip visible. Just a plain card, with no indents or marks, front or back.

I e-mailed the message center, and they responded:

I confirm that the new card you received is a Chip and
Signature card (Chip embedded card). You might not be able
to view it as it is a metal card. You can use it
overseas.

My question: Has anyone else received the Sapphire Preferred card with an EMV chip in the past week or so, and was the chip clearly visible?

Thanks

It is visible. You might want to try another CSR.

However, World MasterCard CSP's cannot get EMV.

Thanks both of you. Yeah, when I have an e-mail telling me it's essentially an invisible chip, when their are images all over the web exactly as you posted, it does seem odd.

And yes, it was the Visa version, which is fine with me. I have the Barclay's Arrival World, and there isn't enough difference to matter for my spending habits.

Again, thanks for chiming in.

Keep trying via SM until you get it...

You might get 3-4 backup cards in the process.

Just got my CSP with EMV. Its not invisible. Its VERY obvious that there is a chip there.

As I posted earlier, my new CSP card clearly came without a chip, and the Chase represenative wrote back assuring me it is there, I just may not be able to see it.

I've been busy and dropped it. Yesterday in the mail two brand new, identical Sapphire Preferred Cards arrived, in separate envelopes. Both are with the EMV chip, and both have a number to call for activization.

I never asked for the cards, but pleased obviously since I travel out of the country. Just a strange sequence.

Anyone know whether, once I activate a new one, if both of them work? And will the old, non-EMV chip card still work?

It's nice that Chase is rolling out the card, but they seem to be struggling on the implementation a bit.
