Military STAR CLI

Hi all, I have heard that military STAR cards often give annual CLIs, but I have had a different experience, possibly because of my usage pattern.

I did just receive a CLI though, which I just noticed after logging in to check my balance after using the card for gas (this is the first time I have used it in the last 4 or 5 months). The gas charge posted, and my credit limit increased from $5150 to $6450.

I don't really even need this increase, as I hardly use the card, but I thought it was nice to see that they automatically gave it to me after a small purchase posted.

I just thought this might be useful if there are other STAR card users curious about an auto-CLI.

I never got a CLI but I beleive they gave me the max limit for my rank when I opened it.

Thanks, yes, I noticed the CL star today also!

As for the STAR card, that was also a surprise. But active use of the card must be a necessary factor to getting the autos. I will add that I also received no increase after the first year that I had the card, even though I was carrying a balance at 0% for 12 months. It must have been because I didn't use the card for anything else while I was paying that off.

Is this just the STAR card or the Mastercard?

standard gold STAR card backed by AAFES only. I got it in 2011, before I was willing to apply for a mastercard that I didn't think my credit warranted. I have received 2 CLIs since that time, but not at regular intervals and both followed recent use of the card for a purchase.
