amex multiple on same day?

did amex change their policy?

my friend just tried applying for two cards on the same day (for the one hardpull), first was approved instantly, and then the second was pending. When he called back they said that because he applied two in the same day, it holds until a few days later to process. In which case i'm assuming it would be a seperate hard pull right?

If your friend gets approved for the 2nd one, yes HP. If denied, SP.

he already has one amex to start with, applying for two more in one day won't flag for FR possibly would it?

FR can be triggered for any reason but namely spending patterns exceeding stated and/or verified income. Two apps 'shouldn't' trigger a FR

Naw, it shouldn't. If anything, the pending one may prompt for additional verification to ensure your friend was indeed applying for both.

i don't think it will...worst case scenario is that he/she gets denied...

Sorry to be off-topic but I feel a FR coming on personally

hahaha that acronym sends chills to my body, its so personal! xD

Back on topic: I noticed Amex and Citi do not play that same apping on the same day crap especially if they are first from what I've seen, but naw you seem far away from what would bring on a FR!

+1 to what @Finstar said btw.

And to add to that expect a HP across every CB for the first app and for the second app a HP on experian (They love them)! I did just that two weeks ago. I called CS for the first app, a Business Gold and got approved, immediately hung up and did SkyMiles online, immediate approval. As another poster said, these two apps were the first two of my spree followed by Chase.

Depends on one's credit. They've only pulled Experian for me.

oh interesting, he did both apps with a rep. Maybe he should try it online?

he was worried about getting FR or something so he canceled the pending second app anyway

for best benefit unless this is your first AMEX card, don't apply for AMEX cards this late in the year, its fine to apply for your first card anytime of the year, but once you have a membership date its best to apply early in the year, for instance if you get a card in December 2013, then apply in January for your second card and if approved the second card shows up on your credit report as being 11 months older than the first card.
