Blue Cash Preferred Reward

I have a question about the Blue Cash Preferred's 6% cash back on grocery, it says:

"Up to $6,000 per year in purchases (then 1%)."

Is this based on a calendar year or 12th statements (account year) ?

I just received my BCP so I don't have first hand knowledge yet but from what I thought I read somewhere here was that the spending catagories reset every January 1st, and that the annual fee is every 12 months from when the account was created. I may be wrong though but definitely interested in the correct answer.

An annual reward year is 12 billing periods in a row beginning with the one that includes January 1st; if your billing cycle changes, the length of your annual reward year will also change.

Thanks for that, I was getting confused with the situation when the card went from having no cap to the $6K cap. So yes, calendar year more or less.

Also, it's uncapped until your next anniversary date. So, I'm using this card a bunch this month. You should too.

This is only true of cards issued before Dec 2012. New ones come with the $6K cap from the start. Otherwise...!

I'm fairly certain that this is true if you had your card prior to the cap being implemented. I contacted Amex and confirmed that I was uncapped through 2013.

Right, the cap was implemented around Dec 2012.
