PayPal Extras MC

So I have been planning on applying for this card for months now so very important to me. All my cards are reflecting a zero balance, except my largest and oldest (Cap1) - which I left a small balance on - giving me an overall utilization of 8%. Only 2 or 3 innquiries past year! So I run all 3 FICO reports today thinking everything would be reporting accurately and according to plan. TU reported exactly as planned giving me a score of 703. Not great or as high as I had hoped, but good enough to apply for the PayPal Extras MC (I pray).

Unfortunately, BOTH EQ and EX still hadn't been updated from my monthly Barclay card PIF payment on Nov. 20th (statement cut on 24th) and still showing a small $256 balance and a 12% utilization instead of 8% as planned. Hence, a lower 683 EQ score and a 671 EX score. Both of these bureaus are generally a little lower than TU anyways, just not that much lower.

Not sure why both of these bureaus still haven't been updated by Barclays, but maybe the TG holiday had something to do with it. So is this something I need to worry about in applying today for the PayPal Extras MC? I realize PayPal is GE and they generally pull TU. However, does anyone know if the also SP other bureaus as well during the typical application process? Should I wait a few more days and hope they are updated, or will it make a difference in applying today? Would really like to get this behind me!

You might be able to call Barclay and ask for a mid cycle update =)

I'd say there's a 99% probability they will pull TU. If you want to be absolutely sure, wait for EX and EQ to update, but if it were me I would be confidant enough to go for it today.

I think you will be fine they only pull from Transunion.

When you are approved, immediatley contact GE Credit Solutions at 1-877-379-8173.for a credit limit increase

Hey, THANKS everyone. Well, I went for it. Unfortunately, I received the dredded 7-10 notice. And I thought I was on the right road to recovery. Talk about a punch in the gut. I've had an account with PayPal for over 5 years and usually have a positive small balance of at least $2,500 or $3,000. Current balance $2,750 (not that it would make a difference). This SUCKS! Here's the notice:

We're Unable to Approve You for the PayPal Extras MasterCard®

Yep. Everyone raves about GE. But for some odd reason they are not very fond of me. I've had my Wally card with a whopping $400 Cl and absolutely no love for an increase. Tried love button several times and called BO. I have $84K income, no lates since 2007 BK, 8% utilization and only 2 TU inquiries the past 2 years (most recent July 2013).

Do I need to change deodorant?

when is the last time you called credit solutions for your walmart card?

I would try them now and then once they are looking at a fresh report maybe they can tell you why paypal got declined at same time... they can't change it but!

Maybe 3 months ago. I basically gave up trying. The card just turned 14 months old. I probably charge $700 or $800 a month in groceries, so I have to make multiple payments per month to keep from going over my impressive $400 CL. Never been late. Always PIF. I SUCK!

I would love to have a Chase card, but I don't think they are BK friendly are they?. I was discharged in August 2007 and did NOT burn them or any other credit cards. No lates since ???

UPDATE:

So I am sitting here thinking about the PayPal MC application and realize it asked me for my income and birthdate, but NOT my SS #. Why would the application not ask for me SS? Granted, I applied from the 'Other Products' page on my PayPal account, so maybe it already had it on file and didn't need it. You would think it would have asked for it. No?

Regardless, I call the Credit Solutions number provided by CreditAddict to find out the scoop on my application's 7-10 day notice. THEY CAN'T FIND MY FREAKING APPLICATION. No record of it! So after spending 45 minutes on the phone with several different CSR's that ONLY speak with an occassional English word thrown in just to tease me... I flipping HANG UP!

So I go back on to my PayPal account and try my luck at another application. Before I even get started it says that I already applied and have to wait 30 days to apply again. This is sounding way too familiar and don't know whether to cry or LMAO.

Any ideas?

I believe Chase is once you're 7 years out from discharge, without any additional negatives. Barclays would be more likely to approve you IMHO.

GE can never find applications for a little bit.. they are crazy!

Thanks for replying CreditAddict. I understood your instructions regarding CL increase on Walmart. However, I don't want to do anything at this point that might compromise my FICO's and efforts with PayPal. I realize Walmart CLI would probably be a SP, but since they are both GE I don't want to take any chances. I will follow your instructions with Walmart once I figure out what's going on with Paypal.

That said, I haven't received much input from anyone regarding my prior 'Update' and ongoing circumstances. With all your MyFico prowess, do you have any idea what's going on and what I should do next?

sorry to hear op...but when i applied i also got the 7-10 day notice but called the following day and it was approved...what's strange is that they can't find your app...have you checked your CRs (most likely TU) to see if there's an inquiry?

Well, I ran a new TU report this morning before applying with PayPal. I wanted to make sure my score was above 700, which proved to be the case coming in at 703. I guess I could spend another $20 and run another report tomorrow. However, I have a feeling they didn't run a report on me. Again, the application was short and sweet asking for my income and birthdate. However, it never asked for my SS.

Let me ask you this: My PayPal account is a BUSINESS account. Under my account profile they have both my SS and EIN. Is there any chance there is a problem there: e.g. personal vs. Business? The Paypal Extras MC is a personal card, correct? I didn't remember at first, but I went through all this same crap 6 months ago when I applied with them last. I got the 7-10 day notice and when I called the next day they couldn't find my application. When someone finally found it a day or two later they told me the social security was incorrect and/or not filled out correctly. I am getting old, but as I recall they told me then as well that I had to wait 30 days before applying again. I never did because I obtained the Barclayscard in the meantime.

Also, a GE inquiry NEVER did show up on my credit report 6 months ago. So again, I doubt it will here either. What the heck am I doing wrong?
