Got a letter today for my amex gold issuing a free 15k reward points for spending 30k in the last calendar year. Just curios if this is normal ?

To qualify, your total purchases charged to your Premier Rewards Gold Card must meet or exceed $30,000 from January 1 to December 31. Cash and cash equivalent transactions (including balance transfers, convenience checks, and cash advances), interest charges, fees, and purchase credit adjustments are not eligible for qualification.

Several AMEX products offer similar rewards.

The Delta Platinum offers 10K MQM and miles for $25K calendar year spend and then another 10K MQM and miles for another $25K spend ($50K total spend for 2 levels of bonus). The Delta Reserve has same bonus except it's 15K MQM and miles for $30K spend and another 15K MQM and miles for another $30K spend.

So for $110,000 spend you get a total of 50K MQM and 50K miles plus the 110K or more miles for purchases. If you spend a lot and fly Delta just having those 2 cards and maxing out the bonuses can bump you to Gold Medallion without ever flying a single mile. Fly a little and you can be Platinum medallion or fly a lot and you are Diamond Medallion easy.

I know, nobody likes Delta. That's cool. Keep leaving Delta so I never ever miss a free first or business class upgrade from a coach ticket .

LOL. Ok, so what's in your wallet? I bet we can guess you use it for Delta miles right?

I have the Amex Sky account so I can spend mine on any travel with any carrier. So, do they have anything for it?

It's not on Gold. It is on Premier Rewards Gold.

These are specific benefits for specific cards. They don't apply to all the cards.

I assume you mean Blue Sky. I don't have the card, but as far as I am aware, there are no bonus spend threshholds for that card. It would be pretty clearly listed in the benefits if there were.
