Cap1 changed my rewards catagories and didn't tell me

Hello all. Just logged in to Cap1 to pay this months bill and I see that on my Platinum card that I have had for a few years now with 2% gas/grocery and 1% everything else that they removed the 2% catagory for gas/grocery. Now it just says I only get 1% for every purchase. Can they do that??

CapOne sent out notices that it would be effective as of 11/15/13...if I were you I would request PC to Quicksilver for 1.5% reward structure. Good luck!!!

What card is this and you maybe able to get another .5% by way of EO but the only card with CAP1 that offers 2% now is

This was my Cap1 Platinum Mastercard. I don't remember receiving any notification that the reward structure would be changing.

That one is easy you may be able to just send a PM for upgrade to quicksilver

If not EO certainly will do it for you

How will an upgrade/PC on this card affect my account history and AAoA? Is the account history retained or is a new account opened in place of the old one? Is there a HP associated with a change like this?

Has no affect they're just changing the rewards system for you no account number cahnges ...no hits to AAoA ....Nada ,....Zip...good to go

I am surprised that they didn't automatically switch you to Quicksilver rewards, as going to 1% is an obvious downgrade. Unfortunately, all reward programs contain language basically saying the the issuer can change or terminate the rewards program at any time.

I received a letter about this a couple of months ago. Figures, just when I start to use the card for more purchases.
