I'd like some input from fellow Barclay MC rewards card holders on surprising places where you received 2 x points excluding the expected places like Gas stations, utilities & grocery.

My mother was telling me last week that she received 2x points at a local pharmacy (Pioneer Family Pharmacy). We couldn't figure out why, but weren't complaining since she could earn extra points every month on her prescriptions!

Dollar General (I think it counts as grocercy). Let's hope this list grows. I didn't know about 7-Eleven. Anyone know if its 2x at Wawa?

I at lunch at a Market/Eatery here where I live and it was coded as a market so I got the 2X. I'm guessing similar places might also depending on how they code the transaction.

I think this depends on if they sell gas, or grocery products like orange juice, milk, eggs, etc.,

The Zen Shop sells Buddhist items. I was stunned when I saw double points in my account. They sell tea, but that hardly qualifies them as a grocery store.

Well if we're adding utility bills to the list, Verizon Wireless is 2x points and so is DTE Energy.

Why in the world are so many things 2x points on this card that don't seem to truly fall under the standard gas, groceries, and utilities categories?

Do any of you guys know if you get the 2X for Dish Network or Charter Internet? What if I paid our Duke Energy bill with the card through Speedpay? Would that still count?

Heck, is there any true way to tell what qualifies other than just charging it and waiting to see?

Im not sure about Dish and Charter specifically, but I have Armstrong Cable/Internet and it gives 2% back on it. My guess is that you would but can't be certain.

And yea, just try it and see. You may need to pay directly though so its coded as a utility or whatever. Just need to try it sadly.

@Anonymous, we've earned 2x @ CVS (on both my & my DH's Rewards card).

@Interesting point - as mentioned above, my previous Rewards card earned 2x @ CVS. However, now that I have the Sallie Mae, for whatever reason, SM does not earn the 5% @ CVS nor count CVS as a grocery store (like the Rewards card did).
