AU younger sister?

I was thinking of adding my sister as an AU to either my AMEX card or discover card so she can have something on her CR since she's only 17 and will be applying for CC when she's 18. I will only add her as an AU but not give her any cards. Is this a good idea?

YES, especially Amex as she will get backdating to 2013 in future if she ever gets her own Amex Accounts.

YES, especially Amex as she will get backdating to 2013 in future if she ever gets her own Amex Accounts.

Amex will not backdate an AU when they apply for their own card

Their card would reflect the year the apply

Amex will not backdate an AU when they apply for their own card
Their card would reflect the year the apply

pretty sure Amex does backdate to personal AU just not business or corporate AU.

Just to clarify, Amex ACMs will be backdated to their MSD on their account regardless if they are a primary or an ACM on other accounts. They will backdate the ACM's MSD on the CRs for cc's in which they are the primary only. If your sister becomes a primary in a few years, she will receive the benefit of backdating on her CR's for that card.

2013 with the month in which he applies in 2018... so application in 6-2018 will report 6-2013 on credit once backdated.

As an ACM, her cr will reflect the day she was added. If you add her Jan 2014, it will say 01/2014. When she becomes a primary on her own Amex ( in 6 years for example)

her CR will have an open date for HER cc as 01/2014.

Basically, she is locking in her MSD for when she becomes a primary cardmember.

Being added as an ACM will help judt like any other cc for AUs. The key with Amex is the backdating.

If my scores dip or run into trouble, I assume that would affect my sister's scores as well, right?
