Approved For AMEX Platinum Skymiles - Convert?

Hello Forum:

My quest to 700 then 760 continues. I just received word that my AMEX Platinum Skymiles CC application was approved! I do not know any of the particulars, and I know this is not a great achievment for some of you. However, I was in the 500's not even 6 months ago, and I am now in the mid 600 range!

My question is concerning converting cards. I have read several threads about converting, but they all seem to show different ways and times.

What is the best time and way to convert? Should I call and try to convert tomorrow (Monday) when they open their offices or do I wait for the card in hand and at activation?

Also, which card should I try to convert to with the following info"

EX: 646

TU: 667

EQ: 626 (slackers!)

A couple baddies, but only 1 in the past year. 60 day late on car payment (GW them now), everything else about to drop off

Do you fly Delta often. If so, that is a great card to have. If not, then I would suggest a card that has rewards or cash back (Blue or Blue Cash). If you have been approved for the Plat. SkyMiles card then you should have no problem converting. When you get the CC in the mail, call the activation number and inform the CSR that you would like to convert to one of the blues and she will let you know which one you are qualified to convert to. Easy as that.

I would say from my personal experience you will do just fine with a Blue Cash conversion. Can't beat that cash back and their CS is outstanding.

I am learning a lot hear as well and I am glad to help when I can. AMEX is amazing and you will enjoy whatever CC you choose.

I just converted my skymiles to Blue Cash on saturday. Should have asked for Clear......

They would only let me convert to Blue Cash. The CSR told me it would have to be a separate app. for the Clear. Oh well, Blue Cash works for me.
