Do I have to have their cash management account in order to get one card?

And is this the only one which offers all 2% cashback?

No you don't need a CMA before applying.

There are other 2% cards, such as Barclays arrival, but there's an annual fee.

If you are in the applicable states, you can try JCB marukai which is 3% for everything.

As enharu says, not to GET the card. But to get the full 2% you need some Fidelity account, otherwise they will redeem into another bank account but at a lower rate. It's worth setting up the Cash Management account, it's free and even useful, but you can just use it to redeem your rewards and then ACH them to whereever you want them.

Arrival etc are 2%+ but can only be redeemed against travel purchases (at least on paper). Fidelity has no such restrictions.

That's really confusing.

Not sure what that means. The CMA is a Fidelity account, so you should be able to open just that.

just open a cash management account and you get the account number instantly and then go apply for the credit card... just speeds up linking to an account you already do, I believe they will open you one or something otherwise.

I see what you mean. I already had a Fidelity account so it wasn't a problem. Try going to:

https://www.fidelity.com/cash-management/fidelity-cash-management-account/overview

and click on Open an account. It suggests that this complements the "Fidelity Account" but you do seem to be able to select "I am new to Fidelity"

No sign up bonus. They have an offer code online but not quite sure what the 'offer' is since the terms are clearly outlined. I was approved last week and did not have my CMA info with me. They had no problems approving the account without the information.

Funny, you ask that! I'm bracing myself for the lime green. I had the Merrill+ expedited and didn't ask for the FIA Amex; guess I can't delay the inevitable.
