Different lenders have different or internal scoring models.

However, 'submitting' an app with no intention of going through with the process for the purpose of receiving a free credit score is frowned upon at myFICO.

Approval or pre qualified doesn't mean anyone will get approved. Sometimes it's a good indication and sometimes it's not. Chase said I was eligible for Freedom and Slate. I applied for Freedom (the card I wanted) and got approved $3,000. Discover said I have no offers and approved of me for $4,000 when I applied. American Express only offered me the Green card, which I got letters for in the mail. Applied for Blue and approved for $500, small but excited to be with AE!!

My experience has been the same! Discover had no offers for me, and I was approved for $7,500, and AMEX offered up their charge cards and a Blue Sky, but I applied for BCE and was approved for $2,000.

Meanwhile I get pre-approval letters from BOA frequently for the same card I had applied for and was denied! So really it's not wise to go off of those pre-qualifier sites and letters.

Yeah, Chase says I'm preapproved for CSP, but I highly doubt they would actually approve me for a Visa Sig considering my income.

The only thing I got out of all of those is amex with their special offers. I get the prg with 50k bonus if i spend 1k in 3 months. I would love to see my name on an amex but I must hold back.

Not sure! Consensus around here seems to be that while none of these are 100%, the Chase one is better than most and a preapproval is a good indicator that you would be likely to be approved (providing no major recent changes in your CR).

Not that I am promising to refund a HP if you get rejected!

Just for reference are there similar links for USAA or NFCU?

Curious because USAA keeps sending offers to my Grandmother's house. In all fairness that's the address I use for my USAA membership and it's the same zip code. And NFCU might be helpful to a lot of members here.

I can confirm for the credit one prequal, it is a fico score and matches the score I got on here, it shows up on EX as a soft pull.
