i kinda am in a hurry. the reason i dont wanna pay down the cards is because even if i get a 1000 dollar card my utilization drops below 50% and i wont have to spend much to get it to 25. if i get a 2000 dollar card its drops much lower and i wont have to spend anything to be were i wanna be.

With higher scores, and a clean report, etc, you stand a better chance of approval for a card with a higher limit. JMO.

629 on EX is not awful, however, I don't know what card to recommend. You can always check whogavemecredit.com.

Pay the cards off or close then apply. I think you can wait 30 days right? You apply now you are in a severe position of weakness with 80% utilization.

80 percent util eliminates Amex I believe. They are big on util.

While lowering util would greatly improve your scores, if you are really in a hurry you could always app for HSBC/Orchard. They are a pretty exclusive EX puller that I don't think would mind the util so much.

I would pay them down because that would give u a chance of getting a higher limit...if in a hurry try HSBC preappoval site....their are link on here somewhere or just google HSBC...I would say that you would get around the same as your limits that you have...and if not lower if the utilization is high...

that's what I was thinking....they pull and look at those things and really don't give you too much more than what you have...unless your scores show that you need the bump...in my opinion like others have stated I would hold out and get it to around 10-15% or less 25% at the most and apply and wait for it to report....u will see a increase in your score and you will definitely get a better limit and APR...

Smart move -

I asked what your ULT was as with a clean payment history- your score seemed o be depressed .

Use the Fico simulator-

10 to 20 points per 10% of UTL-

13 X 7= 91 points!!!!!!!

With scores over 700 you can go prime instead of that HSBC junk.
