Why did Amex pull CR from August 2012? UPDATE: APPROVED!!

On December 31, 2013. I applied for Amex Costco TE, got approved on 01/06/2014. Applied for the green on the same day (01/06/2014) knowing SP if denied, HP if approved. Pulled the trigger, got the pending further review. It was pending for 2 days, then got declined. Got the letter in the mail yesterday 01/14/2014, saying they pulled my Experian from August 2012, back then my credit score was horrible at a 584. Its now 687. Why would they pull such an old score, especially if they just approved one the same day I applied? Confused on this...

I wasn't aware they could pull old scores. Did they pull an old report too? Any chance they made a typo on the report date?

I read it thoroughly, I thought I was going crazy. But the letter is dated 01/07/2014, and it said my FICO score and report was from August 2012 and score 584..I'm baffled at this as well, kind of strange. It also listed the reasons as to why I was declined, which all seem to be from a while ago, as I've been on time with payments for over a year now.

I called this morning and they said "they would look into it". My app status went back from denied to in progress. We will see what happens...

FINALLY!! I was approved for the AMEX Green today, finally! I know the PRG has better rewards, but I have always wanted the Green. According to the application status page I have appled for it a whopping 7 times since November 2012! One more card to finally get (Chase Freedom) and I will be completely done apping for cards. Guess I have to reset my garden date from the first of January to the 17th.

No, they never called me back on details specifically. All I know is I got the email saying I was approved. Didn't really care what they had to say, unless, I was denied.
