If I add an AU on a chase card to get the 5000 pts do they have to take a HP? Can I cancel the AU shortly after the purchase?

No hp ever to add AU.

i don't know how long you need to leave an AU for the bonus to be in effect, check terms.

+1 to what CA said. No hp to add AU.

Just leave them on the card as AU until you get the 5k points, then call to cancel.
