If I wanted this card about around a year from January 2014 would it make sense for someone to apply for a card from a bank that isn't local (I'm in Massachusetts). I mean I really don't need another card (I'm actually trying to upgrade my Old Navy and TJX Rewards card). And what about Santander Bank (those are around here). https://www.santanderbank.com/us/personal/credit-cards/sphere

I like the idea of having card mixups like having a Discover card, a Chase card, an American Express card, a Capital One card etc.

AMEX, Discover, MasterCard, Visa

Also, various banks offer differing rewards structures so I might use one card for fuel, another for groceries and another for online shopping to gain the most rewards. It's kinda fun for me. Some people would rather just have one card for everything though.

I see no indication that Huntington will ever grant credit cards outside of their footprint.

I even tried to get a checking account, just to get a foot in the door. I talked with a huntington personal banker less than 2 hours ago in fact, and they are just not allowing anything outside of where they have a bank.

Wish Hunington would allow you to apply if you aren't in the states their banks are in. I really can't think of any more cards to add within a year because nothing is appealing to me (done wasting inquiries on TD Bank and BOA. I was thinking of upgrading my Blue card to BCE but realized I already have 3 cashback cards which are IT, Freedom and Quicksilverone). I'm making it a goal that I want my Old Navy and TJX Rewards cards to be upgraded to Visa and Mastercards.. but unfortunately for now I just have to sit back and wait for them to give me those offers if they ever do.
