Citi Plat Select AA Mastercard Charge Over Revolving...

Had a citi silver card for 4.5 years and did a PC to Citi plat select world mastercard...got the card today and wanted to get 8145.09 in furniture so I called the dept to ask if it would go through...

The woman said...we are not letting you go over your CL now.

I do have a 4.5 yr old bk on my CR and like 8 accounts that were included in the bk..guess those two factors had something to do with the decision of not being able to go over the CL

However the woman did say I could transfer 8k from my checking account and I could use the card like that. Never knew that before

Disappointed ..as I thought with my perfect payment history going on 5 yrs and zero balance they would easily approve the charge above the 5k

You have no history on the new card, over the soft limit is done based on history with the bank and is not guaranteed. It is not a good idea to try to exceed the soft CL on the first transaction.

The card number itself is new...but it was a PC from a 4.5 yr old account with perfect history...so I have 4.5 years of history.

You have no history on the new card, over the soft limit is done based on history with the bank and is not guaranteed. It is not a good idea to try to exceed the soft CL on the first transaction.

This may raise red flags. If you really want to make it in one transaction you can transfer the money (but still not recommended)

I would simply use 2 cards to complete the transaction here.
