How do I BT to Checking

How do I do a BT to myself into my checking acct?

I want to use my NFCU card and pay myself into my checking account at USAA.

Also is NFCU site down right now?

EDIT - I do not have BT checks, I need to know how to do it from the site. Do I just use my bank acct # and my name?

Most CC companies frown on this practice as a way to get around cash advance fees. I would BT to another CC and ask for a refund for the over payment. Example: Transfer $1000 from card A to card B (that has a 0 balance) ask card B to refund the over payment via checking account.

Do you bank with NFCU? If so, it should be a simple transfer request. Outside institutions would require routing/account numbers.

As far as it being frowned upon - not sure where that information is coming from. CUs tout this feature, BoA does as well.

I know when I attempted to do the same thing with Discover they said it was not allowed, you could only BT to a CC or Loan.

Yeah I do bank with NFCU, but I also bank with USAA mostly. I want to get cash from my BT at 2.99% instead of a cash advance.

I have checks from NFCU but they offer my normal rate and since I do not have BT checks I can't just write it to myself.

Also the BT from NFCU says it can not pay another NFCU acct.

I do not believe it is frowned upon either like someone else said, and I just did a BT with Discover about a month and a half ago and it said that I could pay off CC's, auto loans, installment loans, friends, family, and myself. The only thing I could not pay off was another Discover account or a checking line of credit (LOC) It even gave me an option to send it to my checking account.

Also I am not willing to over pay a CC and request a refund to me that fells more frowned upon that directly sending myself money. Why involve and extra creditor for no reason. Just my opinion.

Yeah I read that on my Google search too, about the 3rd one down.

Seems like a lot of work and involving another company for no reason. Thanks though.

Chase will allow you to BT to your checking but only once every 90 days.

If they let you do it, go for it. I'm just relaying what I was told by Discover. I gave them the account number for my Ck account and was told it was not allowed and would be treated as a cash advance if I wanted to proceeded.

I did an actal BT on my Discover.

When you request the BT on NFCU site use your USAA checking account number and send payment to the USAA mailing address for bank deposits. Works pretty smooth. I just did it a few weeks ago.
