Credit limit increases for Comenity bank store cards?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone can help me figure out the CLI for comenity bank cards.

I currently have 3. 1 i got back in jan and 2 i got middle of Feb with shopping cart trick (have not recieved those cards yet)

I put some money on all of the cards and plan to pay them all in full this weekend.

I was wondering how long it took for you to get CLI or did you ask for one? Also how much they usually give.

i have the following cards

-mandee (from jan) $300

-VS- $500

-kingsizedirect $250

Its really a YMMV tyoe of thing some have pressed the love button as soon as they got the card while others have had to wait the 9 months which is rumored to be the golden rule. I had to wait a little over, but yesterday I got increases on almost every one of mine. Kingsize, Buckle, Vickie Secret, Express, One Stop Plus. Try as often as you like its only a soft pull via online button. If you get it will show right away. If declined it will give a 7-10 day message.

For me it took 4 statements at least for bon-ton. Be aware they may HP you if you call in to have an increase done. I never had the luv button show for the store card. Ann Taylor MC was a soft pull however (not sure if the actual store card would be HP or SP though). I guess it's a YMMV type deal of course.

Thank you for the replies. So if i hit the luv button it would do a hp.

I only had it for a few months but i always pay before my statement is due. I would love an increase but do not want the hard pull as i am trying to reubild my credit.

Typically with Comenity store cards, the online button will be a SP. Don't be discouraged if you don't get it, it usually takes the cardholder hitting the 9 month mark.

As mentioned IF the luv button shows online it's usually a SP if done online. Be sure and double check with the rep before hand if you call and do it via a CSR on the phone (they can tell you if SP or HP). For whatever reason Bon-ton was a HP for me even though the CSR said it'd be SP only.

I hit the luv button on the 3 month mark an was denied, the letter stated that account was too new to qualify for CLI. I had only used the card once prior to requestin the CLI, not sure if they'd be more accomodating if the card was used often.

I have three cards with them.

Pier 1 in January with original cl of $500; hit the cli button immediately after being approved online and it went up to $1000. Earlier this week did it again and it went up to $1500. Only used it once, let it report, and then pif on due date.

Marathon in January with original cl of $250; have hit the cli button a couple of times but keep getting the 7-10 message. Only got it because Marathon is literally down the street and in this crazy weather wanted it for emergencies. Have used a few times and paid statement balance in full. Second statement about to cut with a small balance. Will keep trying for cli monthly.

Younkers in January with original cl of $250. There is NO cli button lol. I called to ask why since I have other Comenity accounts that look exactly the same but with buttons and she said she wasn't sure why but that I wouldn't be eligible for one until 9 months of having the card anyway.

If it's of any use for you i have yet to gain a first CLI with my group beginning with VS back at Thanksgiving.

On the other hand, just brought on board a JCrew card, registered it online, gave the luv button it's first nudge, and Presto! an instant 300 CLI to add to the initial 500 SL.

It does apparently vary by card.

YMMV. VS seems pretty firm about 9 statements before the first CLI, but some members have had exceptions. I'm also trying with a Blair (Gold Violin) card and suspect they're also a 9 monther. After the first CLI, they're usually done after 4 months.

There are some notable exceptions, like J Crew (many members had CLIs immediately on their CCs)

Here is another data point from someone with multiple Comenity cards.

I received both a Marathon Store Card ($300 credit) and a JCrew card ($500) on 12/1/2013.

On the Marathon card, I put about $180 through over the past couple of months, and paid it off to a zero balance about a week ago.

On the JCrew card, I put in my first order 1 week ago, and paid it down to $0.20 yesterday.

After seeing this thread, I just went in and pushed the love button.

Marathon card - 7-10 day message

JCrew card - CLI from $500 to $900 :-)

Approved for Jcrew via shopping cart trick for $250 limit, received card on Monday, hit luv button, they increased limit to $550.

Approved for Brylane Home via shopping cart trick for $300 limit, hit luv button, denied.

Absolutely no credit limit increase yet! Have had a Marathon card since 05/2013 with a $250.00 limit and PIF most months and let the balance carry over about 3 of those months to make them happy. Total utilization of 1 percent across all cards being I use my rewards cards to earn cash back. Not sure what the game plan is with Comenity Bank but it sure makes no sense compared to others. It must be a game of luck other than TU FICO (718). At any rate this card will no longer be used being I refuse to play silly games with a creditor to make them happy!

I got my "The Room Place Card" last June with an opening limit of $1000. I requested an increase in September and was declined. In November, i requested another increase when my balance was PIF and was instantly given an additional $500. Then the card was SD'd as I didn't need any new furniture. Earlier this month, I noticed i was SP'd by comenity so i decided to hit the luv button. Instantly approved by $750. So my limit is now $2250 in 10 months via the luv button. No auto CLIs for me, I had to hit the button both times and it was SP! I'm grateful as I just purchased a new mattress. Good Luck!

I have a Comenity card for Younkers.

I requested a CLI after six months. There is no button on the site (which seems different from other Comenity cards) so instead I sent a message via the Secure Message Center on the site. The only info they needed was my income (unlike other CCs I have, which have also asked about my monthly housing payment and monthly credit card spending).

They told me I would receive a letter with the results of the request. There was no immediate change that day or the next, but the third say I logged in and my credit limit had been updated. I got an email the day after that (today) informing me of the increase.

My original limit was $250. They only increased it to $350. That's only a $100 CLI - it's fine with me as I spend $200-$300 in one trip a couples times a year (which is why I wanted an increase from $250) but obviously it's a pretty small increase.
