Chase Suspended My Cards

I tried to buy some coffee this morning, but my Freedom was declined. I thought it was odd because I just paid off my statement balance and I wasn't doing any MS. However, I called them and they said my accounts were suspended pending further review of my profile and identity. It sounds like they're evaluating my risk. Does this happen a lot?

My Freedom and Marriott Premier are locked. The Ink Bold (employee card) is still functional according to the account holder.

This sounds like what Chase is doing to another poster just yesterday (they closed most of his accounts).

Just curious?

How will it looks like when you log in to online account? Will it display "closed" on the card number? Or they will remove the cards from being displayed online at all??

I am checking my chase online account too frequently (Every hour) after reading all these..

It won't even let me log in. It says "account has been restricted." Then it gives me the customer service number. It happened when I had to verify my ID, but they said it's a different matter now.

Did you try calling them? They have requested a SSA-89 form from me. May be they might ask some thing like this for you too.

Yes I did. It says they're still looking into it, and I'll have to wait until they reach a decision. I'm not good at the waiting game.

Maybe I should send an email to the EO? Maybe that's a bit extreme, but I'd like to get this resolved so I can use my cards again.

I have a feeling Chase is going after people who MS, or have a history of it. I wouldn't be surprised to see if a they send out a new T&C specifically restricting it.

The other thread mentioned that 4 apps in 12 months seems to be a FR trigger. Did you recently app with them or have you apped 4 times in a year?

I'm sorry to read your cards are on hold. Hopefully this can be resolved and your cards will be active again soon.

It wouldn't surprise me, but I really don't have a history of MS on my accounts. I've maxed out the Q1 category, but that's because I share my card for gas (for reimbursement) with family and I reload my Starbucks card with my Freedom. My Marriott hasn't been used extensively.

I apped for the Freedom in August, the Southwest Premier in January, and the Marriott Premier in February. The Southwest card had it's CL consolidated with my Freedom so I have two Chase cards currently, and three approved applications total. Was I overdoing it?

No. That's only 3 apps. That doesn't seem to be over doing it. I've acquired 3 cards in 3 months.

Well if this is the triggering factor, then i should be under their radar as well. I got my CSP in October, Hyatt in November & Ritz in December...spaced out exactly 1 month apart.

I’m not certain what’s going on with Chase. I had been waiting for some CR updates to app AMEX and Chase SW (this one hopefully before the 50,000 bonus ends tomorrow). However, in light on experiences from grinlikechelsea and enharu, my plan is on hold indefinitely. I have Marriott Rewards and CSP, both opened last fall a couple of months apart. I do like my current line-up, so I don’t want to rock the boat. I actually just got an auto cli on my Marriott card.

@grinlikechelsea, good luck. I hope you can get this successfully resolved quickly.
