Even your Chase Amazon and Amex BCE card is probably a better deal since it's essentially a 1% base cashback card with bonus categories. Hilton points are worth less than 1cent, with 0.8ccp being the best case scenario for most situations.

If you're thinking about transferring your points to miles, then hilton is perhaps the worst program among the big 5. The ratio is 10:1, and if you're only earning 2 points per dollar on the no AF card, then essentially you're getting 1 mile per $5. That's absolutely horrible. Hilton points should be used at Hilton properties.

To me it doens't seem that great. Eventually I will pick up the reserve card. The two free night signup offer and gold status make it worth it for the first year. Although I do not know if I would keep the card after the first year, since you need 10k spend in the year to get a free weekend night (I would have to research what type of retention offers if any they would make). After the hilton devals I really don't like earning points in their program and would rather put 10k spend in another program. What drives me towards this card is the mid-level status. I'm just not sure if it will be worth $95 to me beyond the first year, but its a no brainer for someone who will def have several stays at hilton over the year but will not stay enough to make gold.

I spoke with retention a while back, and he did say that he's seen bonus offers with a PC. I guess I may be runing out of options, because flights on American are a little steeper here in San Fran, where United has a major hub. United flights are constantly cheaper given that they are based here...so I don't know.

I'd probably still consider AA for the free checked bag, or the HHonors for the 3x back on gas and groceries and use the points towards a free hotel stay.

The TY Prefered / Premier and Prestige may work out for some people, such as those whom have Citigold relationship and happen to fly a lot.

The flight miles coupled with relationship bonus can add up to a lot of additional points, which may sometimes be a better deal compared to most other cards. Then again, most people don't fall under this category. You will need to deposit a lot of money in Citi, fly a lot (preferably international routes), and put a lot of spend on the cards in order to see the bonuses really kick in.

Other than that, the TY Preferred / Premier seems to be somewhat decent as it gives 2x / 3x on dining and entertainment. They are not horrible, but they are not just as good when you compare them to UR / MR. Compared to some other points program, such as Wells Fargo, I would rather go with Citi's TY program.

I have both no fee cards, the Amex and the Citi. I try to have a hotel card for every chain I tend to stay at for my travel just to maximize the points. They both suck at earning from spend daily, no chance I would use either as a daily use card. I don't really like the HHonors program to start but many of the places I travel always have a Hilton property with availability. Based on that the Amex version earns 7 points per $ and the Citi earns 6 points per $. About the same really. You don't get into much better rewards until you get a AF card and to me it's not worth the AF to double the points (after saying that I will end up spending an ungodly number of nights at Hiltons this year).

Don't PC. Get the signup bonus for whatever Hilton card you pick. The point redemption sucks so you need the bonus to make it worthwhile.

I really like the Premier. 3x back on dining 2x on plane tickets. But the 125 annual fee pretty much nullifys my rewards. I am not a heavy spender by any means, so after the first year it wouldnt be worth it for me..and the TY preferred is only 2x on dining and no duble points on airfares. AHHH. Citi's products suck...:/
