It's a true NPSL that allows people to spend a lot more than most static lines would allow, though it does depend on one's income and internal score with Amex. A friend of mine just purchased her porsche using her Amex card; dealer wasn't willing to negotiate down the price any further and didn't charge an extra fee for CCs, so might as well get some rewards as additional discounts. Whereas with other cards, she would have to make spilt payments.

Supposedly, the largest purchase ever put through an AMEX Centurion was a $52 million jet. That'd rack up the MR points.

Wow.

So today I was working at a client, it's a jewelry that sells high end watches. I saw first hand the 2 highest purchases I ever seen on a credit card....

First one was for 32k on an AMEX Gold, it went through in less then 3secs, the second one was a whopping 120k on a AMEX Centurion! No problem going through either....kinda cool but also realized that none of my cards would be able to run that.... Maybe my BCP on a very good day! lol

Wow.. $120k on a Centurion. What did he buy? A watch with a house in it? lol All of my cards combine wouldn't even go that high. Anywho, saw and hold a Centurion card once and that thing was really heavy!

Sometimes even if they do, they may only let you go over by say a couple hundred to thousands at best. I wouldn't really count on my freedom card for a 30k charge for instance; doubt chase will approve it.

I have went over the CL on my Citi TYP and CSP cards by close to 50% and the transactions were approved, but I doubt they would have let me charge twice my CL.

Amex NPSL limits are generally much higher, depending on your account history, income and internal score with Amex. They may initiate an FR just to verify your income, but if you are okay with that, then this is probably going to your most useful tool for spending power.

If you need to constantly make 5 figure charges on a card, then Amex NPSL cards are probably going to be the ideal choice for most people.

When I received my CSP, the literature they sent with it touted it's NPSL ability, which is why I was curious. If I was to use it I would probably call Chase first to give them a heads up or something. Just was curious since they specifically mention that as a benefit.

However, some people on other forums have said that going over the CL may put the customer above the risk threshold and result in their accounts getting closed, which I suspect may have played a part as well when my accounts were briefly closesd. Chase analysts didn't mention that part to me however so I can't verify if it's true or just a rumor.
