Discover IT - What is YOUR CLI experience?

Hello MyFico friends!

I was wondering if you guys would be willing to share your Discover IT CLI experiences? I have read multiple experiences of people with excellent credit asking for CLI every 3 months, others with poor credit gardening for 6-12 months and waiting on auto-CLI's, among other interesting stories. If you have a minute, please share your personal experience with me!

The reason why I ask is because I was approved for the IT on 2/28 with an $1100 limit and would like to see different experiences with CLI requests and denials. My goal is to optimize my chances of getting a nice CLI to further develop my scores which currently stand at Credit Karma - 635 and Discover IT FICO - 655.

waited a year to finally let them do HP for CLI and it was instantly denied and we asked to be transferred to credit and they then approved. (ours is joint account though so little different)

It took me 14 months to finally get a SP CLI of 4500

Just attempted a 3 month SP CLI. Was not approved and they said they could run a HP which I declined. TU score is currently at 769 but I haven't run much $ through the card.

They don't like me, ever time i call they want a HP.

Stuck at $5000 since 10/2013.I use the card everyday, but now it's going into the sock draw!

Hi! My starting limit in Sept 2013 was $4500. Between then and Christmas I put a little over $3000 through the card. On the 28th of Dec I recieved and auto CLI of $500. I recently bought some stuff and total usage of the card is $5960...and its been 3 months since my last CLI. My statement for this month hasn't cut yet so I'm hoping for more Auto Luv. Im considering using the CLI button but I want to see if I get an Auto CLI this statement or the next...i will update...

Called on card's 1 year anniversary. LUV button never worked for me. Did the robo-cli. $1k -> $5k on SP.

October 2013 - Discover IT approved $6,500 ~ EQ

January 2014 - CLI request approved (manual with HP) $10,000 ~EX becuase TU was on ice

February 2014 - CLI request $15,000 (manual with HP) approved for $14,000 ~ TU

Was told by rep that they would like to see more history on Discover and other new accounts before increasing again. At this point, I don't think I need any more on the Discover with my current lineup.

Have had my Discover card since 2006, just PC'd to the IT card last month and recieved a $500 CLI. This was my first CLI with them since 2006.

Over 26 months my Discover has seen an auto-CLI, and two SP CLIs.

12 months no increase. Sitting in kitchen drawer. I get better shopping rebates thru Ebates than shopDiscover anyways.

Hi Dang720,

Here's been my experience so far:

Opened 3/14/13 - $3000 starting CL

6/14/13 auto CLI to $3500

9/14/14 auto CLI to $4000

12/15/13 auto CLI to $4750

3/15/14 auto CLI to $5500

3/17/14 tried the request increase button, said to wait for a response. In about 2-3 hours received an approval to my requested $7000. Now I'm not sure if it was a hard or soft pull, but hopefully it was soft, since I would not have gone thru with it knowing it would be a hard pull.

A couple of times a year I fill out the online form, and ask for a modest increase, and currently have nudged my CL up to $9K.

Opens at $7500, CLI at 3 month mark to $10000. After that at 6 month mark got another $500 bump.

I had a More that was converted to an IT card.

Got the card 6/2011 with a $2000 limit

4/2012 HP to $5000.

12/2012 auto CLI to $15k

A couple of the requests they wanted to do a HP and I declined. I read somewhere to use it every month so I stuck my cable bill on it for an auto payment (they had a promotion at the time) and that's it. "Suddenly" I got the auto CLI.

My friend, on the other hand, gets surprise small CLIs all the time like the person who posted a couple above me.

I opened my Discover IT card in November of 2013 with a credit limit of 3200. I've charged about 5-6K on it since then, and paid in full each month. I requested a CLI last week to 10k, with a HP, and they gave me 8200. I'll probably ask for another CLI in about 6 months, with hopes of getting to 10k.

2014 15k auto (odd as my score dropped from 770 to 670 due to util last few months)

Tried the first time at 6 months mark and no chance, then again at 9 and 12 months mark and still no chance. Discover wanted a HP. So I kept on trying and all the sudden at the 15 months mark a big success. Discover doubled my CL from 2,5K to 5K with a SP. I am happy with the CL now

Since establishing my Discover card last year, they have given me an auto CLI each Quarter. Looking forward to April 8th.

Also I rarely use my Discover card other than the 5% categories.

My parents have yet to get an auto CLI with Discover. I guess it's case by case on auto cli's.
