Vertical Card Images (Slate)

Hi guys, question - I have a rather long last name and was wondering how banks with vertical credit cards handle the cardholder name on the plastic? Does it cut off at some point or do they abbreviate the first name to one letter? Just curious since I"m looking at applying for the Slate card.

Font size is a lot smaller with vertical cards.

The name text on the Slate uses much smaller type than the imprinted names on traditional cards. The maximum number of characters is probably about the same on the Slate as on a traditional CC.

I don't know what happens if you exceed that max, though.

You can always ask them for a regular embossed version of the card too I think. They are out there.

I had a Slate card since 2009 (recently just PC'd it to Freedom) and I only ever had the horizontal embossed MC. I've seen others with the vertical card, but was never sent one myself. I assume you can request one or the other?
