Meijer Credit Card

has anyone heard anything about this card or had it themselves? i want to apply for it because it is where i shop i can find nothing about approval except in the application where it asks if the applicant has ever filed bk. i know the card is issued by ge but very little past that with the exception of the interest rate.

To be honest I thought you just spelled "major" wrong Haven't heard of this card or the store. In my experience I've had no luck with GE 3 years out of BK7. Usually when an app asks about BK I get an instant denial.

Everything I've heard about this card -- which hasn't been very much, to be honest -- indicates that it isn't anything special. But if you shop exclusively at Meijer, it may be worth your while...

I got approved 5 yrs post BK, but it was only the store card and the CL was a lowly $700.

I ended up closing the acct. after 2 yrs.

I never heard of Meijer until I moved to Michigan. Everyone around here claims Walmart stole Meijer's concept, but if there were any truth to that I think Meijer would be better known

The card is so-so. The gas is only $0.05/gl discount not 5% which is like 1.5% discount depending on price per gallon. If you get the MC version I believe you get a 20% off coupon after $2k spend.

well meijer has been in business much much longer. i am only 31 and i can tell you meijer had the same store design when my parents were kids. i plan on buying a television and was wanting the card just for the 10% off first purchase, its an 800.00 tv. i am by no means telling you where to shop as meijers pays just as poorly as wal-mart but the idea of a superstore begin with meijer, they just chose to remain privately owned unlike wal-mart. curious what part of michigan as i am originially from up there

I am near Ann Arbor. Yes Meijer did not expand nearly to the extent Walmart did, maybe it was good choice not to. I really try to order most of that stuff online so I dont have to fight for parking or stand in line

Michigan transplant here. Yeah, I remember the packed parking lots and stupidly long checkout lines quite vividly.

They opened a new Meijer near my house in Chicago last fall. The parking lot is maybe 33% filled at any given time, and the lines aren't quite as long. I'm sure the fact that both a Wal-Mart and a Sam's Club are, literally, right around the corner isn't helping things...

It's a totally different atmosphere compared to your typical Michigan store. And worse, no one but other Michigan transplants knows that Meijer is actually a huge chain. It's depressing almost.

love the term michigan transplant....no matter where i live, buy a home, or work, michigan will always be the state i call home

Make sure to pay attention to the no bankruptcy part, I apped and was denied. I don't think it has to many benefits and I thought it was issued by citi, not ge.

And meijer is only good to shop at during the early morning hours when the whole state of Michigan isn't in the same store with you competing for an open lane.

ge is one of the things i am 100% certain about with this card did they deny you? what were your scores and how long post bk?

I applied about a year after bankruptcy. Don't know exactly but my scores were around 590 and. 610 at the time. And my apologies, it is issued by ge. Maybe I was thinking of sears when I said citi. I did see that there was a MasterCard version of their card as well.
