I need to get a secured credit card and I have a tax lein

Can anyone recomment a secured credit card that will accept you if you have an unpaid tax lein?

I do plan on making payments on the tax lein soon.

I have serveral charge-offs that are leaving my CR this year....

Try BofA or Citi they are pretty good at getting easily approved for secured lines of credit. If your not accepted by them you can always try Orchard Bank.

Hi awoodrow,

Bank of America has the best secured card program in the

country...bar none.

You can apply for a secured card right on their website or

over the phone. They also have a partially secured credit

card called a 99/500, which means you get a credit card

with a $500 limit in exchange for a $99 deposit. However,

the 99/500 is a "counteroffer card" only, which means you

have to apply for an unsecured card and be turned down.

Then they may....and I emphasize MAY offer you that card.

Otherwise, you'll most probably be offered a fully secured

card.

Other banks with secured cards that myfico members are

using are National City ($250 to $5,000 limit) and Citibank

(minimum $300).

If all else fails, you might wanna try a local credit union.

They are usually very lenient, especially if you're rebuilding

credit right now.

Some more details about BofA's secured cards:

-- Limits range from $300 to $10,000

-- Average time in secured status is only 9-12 months,

as opposed to 24 months for secured cards from other banks.

-- BofA pulls TransUnion and Experian primarily.

-- myfico members have reported that BofA grants

credit limit increases the moment the card graduates

to unsecured status, provided all payments are made

early or on time.
