What banks update available credit immediately after making a payment?

So after making a payment to your CC via a checking/savings account from the same bank, what banks update the available credit immediately? I can understand if you are paying a CC from another bank as the CC company wants to hold payment until it clears, but if it's the same bank I don't see why it shouldn't update right away.

My amex always does. I don't think any of my other cards do.

I know Amex and Wells Fargo credit your account immediately. Chase, Discover, Barclay's and Citi do not.

I was riding down the road the other day with DW driving... I pulled up the Wells Fargo app, transferred 500.00 to the CC from checking... by the time it refreshed (approx 20 seconds) via 2g network (was in the country)... Available Credit showed the $500.00. I will say Wells Fargo does Same bank available.

Also IIRC, all of Georgia's Own Credit Union Transfers are instant if you request for it to be instant.

The following do for me: FNBO, Cap-1, Idaho Central CU, OCCU, Discover, GECRB Chevron Visa, Comenity FRN.

chase does it pretty quick for me.....usually within an hour or two of payment from outside bank.

Really? My Chase credit is reflected immediately upon sending a payment. It could be that I bank with them so that might be a factor.

For me:

BoA never updates immediately when I pay from my BoA checking.

DCU always updates immidiately when I pay from my DCU checking

I pay my Chase CC's with Chase checking -- and it's never instant.

Dunno if Chase hates me or what. lol

Also, I can pay Cap 1 over and over each week and it's STILL not instant.

I have chase...As long as you pay the card through the website or in the branch with cash or chase check, then it should update the available balance. Do not go through bill pay since it goes through a different system in chase and delays delivery time. It has always worked for my.

I misread the OP's original question, but for me, when I pay my bill on the Chase website, takes 1 day for the credit to be applied, and then another day or two after that for the money to be taken out of my bank account (I bank with Wells Fargo, which was the part where my input didn't contribute anything to OP's question except for Amex and Wells Fargo cards).

I used to have a secured card from them and once I was at a restaurant and my card was maxed out. ($300 limit, so not that hard to do.) I picked up the phone and it took a minute or two to do it and then handed the card back to the bartender. He just looked at me strange and said that that was the same card that I had just given him and it had already been declined. I asked him to try it anyway and he said OK, as if he knew it wouldn't be approved but didn't want to go into that. He was a bit surprised and asked what I did, since he knew I didn't talk to anyone on the phone. So I told him that I simply transferred money to the card with phone banking.

When BofA converted all the cards to their center in AZ, that function was lost, much to my dismay. It still took me another year and half after that to close the account. Back then it didn't seem to matter how much I used the card and paid it off, they would never unsecure the thing, even though it was possible. I was interesting because at the time if you paid in a branch, then the money was available right away. (Unless they lost the money, oh what a joy those two lost payments were to get resolved.)

Chase and Amex...

I have a checking account with chase and when I make a payment to my cc it is immediate because it is just transferring funds from one account to another.

Amex I usually make a payment nd my available credit is immediately available but the actual payment takes a day or two to actually post to the account.

I paid my NFCU Visa from my NFCU checking on Fri, didn't credit till Tue.... Somewhat frustrating.

Update: just did a payment on Chase with my chase checking and it was instant! So awesome. Didn't realize that before! Thanks for everyone telling me they did.

thats strange I pay my chase same way and my available credit always goes up as soon as I pay it hmmmm

*EDIT* Now I see Kenny reply on the 2nd page, glad it works now
