1) Amex pulls EX. Your 660 on EX should be sufficient (from perspective of score alone) to get Amex Gold Delta Skymiles (credit card) or Green Preferred Rewards (charge card). Much more important than score, though, is how clean your EX report is. Any baddies? How old? Utilization? New accounts? Ever had a relationship with Amex in the past go bad?

3) The "better" Amex cards are not the ones you can get with EX 660. One step at a time. Gold Delta Skymiles is your most likely approval if you want an Amex credit card.

You never know with them. I was denied in January with 670 on EX. But did have a 2 yo CO and a 5yo CA. Was denied due to that and also for new credit (7 new accounts since August up to that point).

In August 2007 with a 645 score I applied and received Delta Blue with a $1500 CL automatically, which I had bumped up to $3k at activation. I have since had it bumped to $5k and they even gave me a Gold Rewards 2 weeks ago. I have run $14k across the Blue and PIF monthly since receiving it and at this point, I think they would give me whatever I want. Of course, all of this is with the caveat that I make six figures.

Message Edited by texican on 05-29-2008 08:22 AM
