Thinking creditors just hate me...

These boards contain dozens and dozens of people posting stories about luck with creditors, and EO's specifically. I recently had a post about my QS account not being where I wanted after 3 years of use and perfect payments.

I emailed the EO, and three days later (last Thursday) I get a call. The guy asked what I was looking for and I said I'd like a 5k credit limit to use for some traveling end of this year. Also said I'd like to just take advantage of the 1.5% rewards. He took my info and said he'd pass it along to the underwriters (thought thats who I called). Today is Tuesday and I haven't heard a thing back.

I thought getting my scores up to almost 700 would help me, but honestly I dont see much of a difference from when they were in the low 500's.

You see see a difference. You can't be too negative on yourself and honestly saying creditors hate you and stuff is just silly. They have no personal view of you, and you know that. Give it time and frequent usage and with the luv button you will get to 5k and greater.. I promise you!

Just stay positive and positive things will happen. HUGE Congrats on coming back from the 500s!

Thanks I appreciate it! Honestly I know it sounds silly, but how is it one person is able to get a 4-5k bump for seemingly no reason, almost instantly from an EO contact but I keep getting the run around (actually no response at all).

I keep trying to garden and just work with what I have but it seems to get me nowhere fast.

Wish I could take a break from this credit stuff but its become an obsession, I think the only cure is a 5k CL to make things feel worthwhile lol.

Give it some time as Cap1 EOs are quite busy these days from most of the members here in this forum requesting stuff lol From personal experience, it can take up to a full week but they will call you back!! Wishing you the best outcome

When you start comparing yourself and your cards to others one will always be dissatisfied. This board is a blessing and a curse, because at least you know what the posibilities of your hard work are, but also you know that things are possible so if/when you don't get those things each and every time it's incredibly frustrating. There will always be someone with a better looking profile, larger income, tons of usage on a card, and much larger CLIs. You have to know that you've done well and just have faith that you will get where you need/want to go. It took me a while to realize this!

The EO hasn't gotten back to you yet, but you will see results of some sort of fashion happen. You will see your CL raise one day and then probably get a call later in the day or the next day if you're like me and frequently check your accounts. Nothing but good things can come from asking for a CLI with Capital One -- they can't HP you so if you don't get what you want now, you will eventually.

How long have you been gardening? It's really hard to garden!!

Hoping everybody in here is just keeping them busy as they work out my CLI lol.

I've been gardening for a little over a month and a half. It's really hard! I have almost all my cards paid off, and just want to see some CLI's, that seems to be harder than getting the cards

They will get back to you! Patience. With that score and util down alot I think you would get results. Keep us posted. Good luck!

bobbay, I've been trying to be patient keep checking my phone like I'm back in highschool waiting for "that girl" to call. Hoping its sometime this week, I'm looking to book a vacation and that new CL sure would be awesome!

Credit and results with EO's vary. How is are your reports looking? Don't just rely on scores. Also keep in mind that it takes time to rebuild. It wasn't too long ago that I was stuck with a secured CO card.

It's all a matter of your credit and the perceived risk when compared to a given creditor's critieria. Hate has nothing to do with it. They don't know you. They're just relying on data in your reports.

HA HA, actually bunnylocks I did that yesterday, it did indeed take up some free time and kind of got me nowhere. Was trying to convert my Rewards Visa to an Arrival card but that was a no go. She did say I could close the Visa and move the credit line to the MC.

How long do you plan to keep trying? I've been trying over the past month, and nothing.

Now that I have found out about the Sallie card, I'm going to just apply for that soon, then transfer my Apple card credit line over.

I did read on the board that someone was successful in converting the NFL Visa to the Rewards cards, which is now my goal.

Ill try until they says its impossible lol! I actually converted my Apple Visa to a rewards Visa, but I already had the MC with the same rewards so I told her its a bit useless.

I've been reading about the Sallie as well, might drop my credit line into the rewards card and close the Visa then app for a Sallie. Still waiting on some results from EO's so I can plan accordingly. Maybe I'll try for that PC to Arival (or Sallie ) a few more times before closing it down and starting with a new app.

I read the same with the NFL card, I wish you luck and I think with you trying a month...Ill try one more time they dont seem to eager to budge on that.

The real question here is why you have to email and then wait for a responce back DAYS later for what would be basic customer service from most other lenders.

Good luck to you! There is no way to know what Crapital One might do. It's very possible they will surprise you with exactly what you're asking for.

I'm hoping for a surprise, and I agree with you. Its a bit of a run around for a CLI, I email them, they call me back, then they tell me they gotta call back again with decision. Capital One was great for letting me get a fresh start, but I feel once I prove myself they should want to keep me as a customer. If this doesn't go in my favor Cap1 will be SD'd until they close it.

I've been told it's impossible, but that wont stop me. Everytime they say Barclays "don't do any PC" I inform them that it's not true, and that I 'know' other consumers who have been successful.

I'm actually kind of glad they told me no, now that I want the Sallie card. The NFL card is one of my oldest tradelines, so it won't be going anywhere, therefore I plan to call every couple of days for the remainder of the year, until someone says yes. LOL

Definitely keep trying for the PC, you've got nothing but time, and good luck with the EO please keep us updated. :-)

I like your persistence though Barclay might not share my feelings lol! Thank you and I will definitly keep the updates coming. Good luck to you as well, Barclay was very easy to work with on my PC so to say they dont do them is non sense! Let me know how it goes I may have to ramp up my harassment efforts as well

Small update: EO called back last night, really nice lady working on my case said they attempted to do a check on Equifax (thought it wasn't HP) but theres a credit freeze on that CR. I had no idea this was on there. Could this be causing me other problems as well? How do I go about removing that freeze? Thanks for any tips

I did it, I did it!

I went on a small app spree last night, and got approved for the Sallie World card with a 5k limit, and a few other cards. I figured since Barclays already had my credit report I would call and ask for my APR to be lowered on my NFL Visa. I called the credit department, who transferred me to customer service, then they transfers me to the retention department. Basically the guy in the retention department said no on the APR reduction, but I asked him if I could convert my NFL card over to the Rewards card, and he said YES. Just goes to show, never take no for an answer with Barclays, you just have to keep pestering them. lol

I think you should try calling and asking for the retention department, to see if you can get your Arrival card.
