Tempted to close discover card...

I had discover since 2008 and the credit line never moves im really considering closing it. I rarely use it. Do you think it will hurt?

I doubt it's holding you back, but it probably doesn't matter either way if you close it or leave open.

Honestly I don't know what I would spend up to $1500 on home improvement this quarter....most annoying category lol.

I am remolding my bathroom, so say i use this card with my contractor i get 1% back??

Do you need more credit or just want more because of your other limits? I don't think I would close one of the better cards out there because of a 15k limit. They do have some nice rotatong categories and their customer service, second to none. Just my opinion. YMMV.

Hmm, not sure, it depends how your contractor codes the transaction I guess. If it qualifies it's 5% back after you enroll online.

wow I never knew the discover it had 5% cash back!!... My stove is on the frits!! and its wolf!! they said it will last a lifetime yeah right!! LOL My friend ownS a appliance store I wonder if I would get 5% cash back I would get about $600.00 back!!!

LOL, yes Discover it has quarterly 5% bonus categories!! For home improvement it's capped on $1500 worth of purchases

it was a discover more then got it to IT. Since last 2008 early 2009 dont really remember

Didnt I just say the stove is on its way out. the burners dont turn on right and the whole inside is ruined from the self cleaning.

5% up to $1500 per quarter.............. WOW, $600 cash back on a stove???????? $12,000 for a stove, must be gold plated

For this whole quarter, it's home improvement and Bed Bath and Beyond. If you have an older card, I would call them and be sure you're upgraded to be able to sign up for the categories. Also, you might want to pick out a cool new color so it feels like a brand new card again. If you call, ask them if they can do a SP increase. You might be surprised. They doubled mine on the phone with a SP recently.

I'm confused what do you mean I wasnt referring anything to the old stove but you said your friend has an appliance store and with 5% you will get $600 cash back which 5% of 12000 = 600...

Discover It, like Chase Freedom have rotating 5% cashback categories. They usually bombard you with reminder emais, texts message to sign up and its all over their website when you log onto pay your bill.

Maybe you should take some time and review all of your cards, new and old because you might be missing out on some valuable benefits.

Hahaha I have a stove now 14 years old and almost fully broken... My friend owns a store which has the stove I want. The stove is a Wolf Range 48 the stove is roughly 12.5k but i didnt know i can get a 5% cash back until now... but I also learned it only qualies to $1.5k
