      <description>&lt;P&gt;Probably not.&amp;nbsp; I have not tested an EMV card, but my laundry card at college had a chip, and it had to be replaced after 2 years due to it becoming unreadable by the machines (likely due to corrosion).&amp;nbsp; They ended up dumping the chip devices in favor of using the magnetic stripe (it was also easier to load, as you could use your debit balance instead of having to go to a machine and insert dollar bills to load the chip - those failed often, which may have been another reason to dump the system).&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Since chip&amp;amp;pin cards have been in use in Europe and elsewhere for years, I am &amp;nbsp;sure that they are pretty water-resistant. &amp;nbsp; I have accidently put SIM cards in washing machines without incident and I would expect these are similarly hard to ruin.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
