I am finally a NFCU member!! Now what?

I remembered last night that my BFs daughter was in the Navy. Asked her this am if she is a member and bam she gave us her access code and the BF and I are now members!! WAHOO!!

So question on plan of attack for CC and line of credit. Need advise.

BF is primary and I am a joint account holder. I assume that we would apply for line of credit together (on same checking account) but have seen they request paystubs. My only quam is I have been out for 4 weeks with a shoulder injury and my last 2 paystubs are not antiquate for my normal rate of pay. So do we wait to apply for this until I have returned to work and generated 2 full paychecks (Due to return April 22 and STD at this time)?

Next question: Should and would we be able to apply for CC separately although we are joint members? His income approx 42k mine 69k. Would this be the most beneficial or should we apply together to get a higher limit?

We would like to purchase a house 3-6 months down the road so would like to establish relationship with them and taking the inquiry hit without looking like we are "seeking" credit. Just relationship. Not to mention improve overall utl while increase big limit cards in our portfolio.

Just out of curiousity, did you apply for your membership as a household member of your boyfriend? Are you a joint owner or do you have your own membership?

In order to apply for anything in your name, you will need to have your own membership share savings account.

We applied joint as she is his daughter. I didn't create a seperate membership for me. So did I mess something up?

Just a follow up on your questions

The CLOC would require the primary on the application. He can do it without you but you can also apply together IF you are a full member.

This goes for all lending products. You have to have your own membership to apply for a credit card in your name or jointly. The only thing you could do on a credit card without being a full member is to be added on as an AU, which has no effect on the limit or approval.

If you are a FULL member, you can apply jointly for anything you would like. You can use household income on credit card apps but not on loans (CLOC is considered a loan with NFCU). I don't particularly like applying for credit cards with a co app if both parties can be approved on thier own. You can always add each other as AU'ers and it's less messy.

You didn't mess up. That is typical. Each person has an access number and log on. The hallmark of a membership is the membership share savings account. You have to be eligible for membership in order to get this and without it, you can't do much. You don't have to be eligible in order to be a joint owner like you are now. If you are not eligible on your own accord, you may be eligible as a household member if you permenantly reside in the same household. They typically require proof of this.

So are you saying that I should apply now as a member via his access code as a houshold member? I didnt know that =(

If you are a household member of his household, then I would definitely call in and tell them you want to open your own membership share savings account because you plan on applying for something in the future. As of right now, if your boyfriend closed his account or has any negative activity, it could impact you. If you get your own membership, you will have it no matter what happens with his membership.

To simplify that, if you intend to apply for anything, you should call and become a full fledged member.

Yea I would call and do my own also.

I was a joint owner with my DH when we opened our checking. But, I went ahead and made my own membership, added ghe $5 to savings etc. This way I could apply for my own goRewards, which I did and approved, with scores much lower than yours. That way he could apply for his own whatever. And we could add one another as AU, which Navy does report to CU's the fact that someone is an AU .

Well I decided to pull the trigger for the BF for the flagship to test the warers. His EQ is 654 with some baddies and lates.

Instant approval for $8,500!!! He is FLOORED!!! He now has a limit higher then me haha

I have 3 cards to report $0 in the next 3 days so I will apply for mine after those hit. Hoping a big boost! Increase my chances for that $25k approval!

Heck with your scores you will probably get 10k easy. Most likely more, as long as your income can support it. You probably don't even have to wait. I had about 50% util when I apped with MUCH lower scores and got 4k and same for my DH...course he only got 3k LOL

Did the $15k line if credit for BF. Contingently approved!! He has to call in now!

Extended invite to my sister. Flagship approval for $12,500. She has been on the worse app spree I have ever seen these last 4 weeks. She had a house short sale 3 yrs ago (divorce) so she thought her credit was shot. I swear she has applied for anything that has a card on it. She applied for line of credit too.. Pending.

I am anxiously waiting to apply! My CR, inquires, income and scores overall are way better than theirs (not dissing them).
