Which companies are known to automatically increase credit limits on account depdning upon revew every six months? I know for a fact Capital One will do it once with the student card but I don't know about anyone else like say Amazon, WalMart, etc. With Citi, I haven't had much luck in that or even getting approved for another card with them. Also does anyone have any advice in making myself more likely to qualify for these increases because I really don't want to have more hard inquires on my credit file. I already have enough as it is and want to wait a long while before doing anything else.

Not adding new TLs when you open an account that does auto-CLIs is actually better, because if you have more open available credit some companies don't want to extend you more.

Wal-Mart, Capital One, Barclays, Probably Amazon all auto-cli. They like for you to use their cards very much and pay in full as much as you can. There really is no secret, I dont' think.

Going further, use the cards and pay more than minimum if not PIF. It may take some time (Cap One once denied my request for too many inquiries, most of which are more than a year old) but it will happen.

Alright! Really helpful stuff though with the total credit limit I have now (close to 5000 dollars and probably increasing in the next few months), I think I'm good at the moment though having a higher credit limit would be especially nice for the Amazon (especially for their financing on certain stuff they sell) and Discover cards and Wells Fargo has given me my third highest line of credit. It's mainly because I wanted to have the lowest utilization possible. Citi gave me the strangest reason as to why I didn't qualify for one and it was mainly because of a lack of credit references at the time.
