I got approved for the Amex BCE with two collections (both under $100). They are gone now as it was a mistake on my hospitals end that caused it to go to collections. I don't know it this made much of a difference but I got mailed an offer to apply instead of just applying out of the blue.

Paid or unpaid? I was approved for zync, surpass and Costco te with an old paid collection and the associated charge off still on my experian report(the one they pulled).

My husband was just denied with a student loan as his big baddie, but the reason they cited was "FICO score too low." Not sure of that counts, but thought it was worth sharing. It did give us his EX, which is 644.

I was approved for AmEx Platinum charge and Delta Gold last October with a paid collection showing from March of 2013 for $72. I also had one 30, 60, 90, and a 120 day late from 2010 showing. FICO was 690 at the time of approval.

I was approved from BCE. EX score was 672. I have a collection due to fall off EX in July, a paid CO due to fall off next May, and BK due to fall off next October. I have 5% UTIL and on time payment history on all TLs since the CO.

I had a 5 year paid CO and was approved for BCP. I think if your collections are old and paid or very old (6+ years) and unpaid you'd have a good shot.

I got approved recently for Amex SPG with a paid collection from 2007. They gave me a low limit but I'll take it for now. Collection is my last one and should fall off this or next month.

A few years ago I was approved for an Amex (Blue I think) with an old almost 7-year paid/settled chargeoff with Amex on my reports - shocked the heck out of me.

Approved 2 weeks ago with a 2009 paid FP CO and one auto loan 60-day late from 2007. Also burnt AMEX back in 2007 but they still backdated to the charged off account (LOL).

EDIT: Approval was for PRG NPSL with a 700 FICO.

PRG in 3/2014 with a paid/transferred charge off and a lousy open Midland collection. They are both about six years old.

I was approved for a Costco TE as well as a Gold card with a EX of 647. My EX report showed 3 old collections from a few years ago 2 of which show "No Status" and the other showed paid.

I was a year so ago ... with a small collections (250$) activity with Verizon Fios ... with regards to equipment return dispute, both were for charge cards corporate & personal.
