Quicksilver - Mastercard vs Visa

Hello fellow community members!

I got my Cap One Quicksilver 3 months ago after converting a non-rewards platinum that I had with Cap One for about a year. It is a Quicksilver, not a QS-one. So no AF, and gives me 1.5%. I plan to use it for categories like travel, utilities, fees, and whatever Discover or Freedom doesn't cover on their quarterly specials. I got a mastercard (probably) because my previous card was also a mastercard.

On the website, I only see the Visa option. Given my purchase categories, am I better off or worse with MC instead of Visa?

Do I need to get the visa? If yes, is there a certain way?

I have 2 MC, this one and Sallie Mae. Other cards : 5 Visa cards, 1 Discover and 1 AMEX.

I would call Capital One and ask them if you could possible carry both cards. I was upgrade to Quicksilver as well and its a Mastercard. I also have their Journey card as well. It doesn't hurt to ask.

There's no real material difference. You'll be fine either way.

Not sure but I thought the platinum had an annual fee, with first year waiver. So I won't go back to having it.

I didn't know I could get a no-AF QS so I had asked for a PC to journey. The rep said journey wasn't available to me but QS was. Better rewards than journey so took it. The number is the same so I still have only one Cap One. Lost the bonus but didn't want to add inquiries at that time.

Thanks Stralem.

I was mostly concerned with benefits such as travel insurance, rental damage waiver, and purchase protection.

My Quicksilver Mastercard was a Platinum Mastercard no annual fee before the product change. It's still a no annual fee Quicksilver. The only reason I see to get a Visa is if Mastercard wasn't accepted. You can have two cards with Cap1 and more if co-branded.

i have a question and not sure where to post this.

I had a Capitol One Cash Rewards (green card) upgraded to QuickSilverOne

and now my CapitolOne Platinum appearently was upgraded to the better looking QuickSilver

and not the rugy *** looking QuickSilver One.

Does this mean now i can ask for a visa ? It has a red/orange logo mastercard but not the Visa Signature

I rather have the cool looking silver logo or the Visa Signature instead of this red/orange ball.

As far as I understand, during PC the card stays with the same network: so a MC Platinum will be a MC QS (as it happened with me and quite a few of the others). If it was Visa to start with, it will most likely stay Visa.

You could try to get the MC World Elite which also has a silver logo and not the red-orange.

+1. If you PC from a MC, you'll still have an MC. This is how some people are winding up with QS MCs and WMCs, when the cold apps would get you a Visa.

My Journey card was a Visa and when it was upgraded to a QS it remained in that network.
