Good Starter Cards?

Thinking about apping for another chase card, i was approved for 200 on their Free Cash Rewards Card. I was hoping that i can get a better credit line! I guess i should bring down my util a bit first!

Probably at about 68% right now! Ouch!

I got a $300 card in December...no CLI yet...and I'm not requesting one. I'll wait until they mail me an offer for another card or give me an auto CLI. I'm not too happy with the interest rate anyway. I can wait for a better offer. All of my other banks have fallen in line...I figure they will too, eventually.

SBK, unless you want another low-limit card, I'd get that util down first, plus get some good history going on the current card. I think you'll get a lot better deal on the second card if you do.

Sounds like you are!

Seems like ducky has National City, and maybe concorduser as well, although I think that at one time or another, he's checked out nearly every card on the planet.

I was just on their site and notice in the top right corner it said "were sorry this card is not available in your area". I went to nationalcity.com i assume thats the correct website!

Concorduser has posted about this, and I believe he had the same message when checking online but was able to get a card from them anyway.

FWIW, I'm in NYC and get the same message on the National City website.

If you can get your util down to sub-30% that should cause your scores to skyrocket into the range where prime lenders would be willing to spit out some plastic in your name.

Chase gave you a credit line of 200.00 dol what was your credit score at that time? mines is 514 do you think i can get approved for one? Also do you have to have a bank account with them?

oooh a 514, i dont think they would approve based on that score, and no i dont have a checking account with them! Do you have currently have any CC's? Probably gonna have to go with a sub prime credit card!

what was your score around when you got the chase card? I need help on getting my score up i have collections 8 of them and i am clueless about how to get rid of them

I think my score was around 619 when i was approved it is now 604, high util is killing me!

Uh, are all of these collections yours? Are any duplicate accounts? Do you know what the DOFD/DOLA is on all accounts? Are they all owned by collection agencies, or are some OC's?

If you dont know DOFD/DOLA you need to find out! Do you have any credit monitoring services!

I currently use experians, freecreditreport.com monitoring, as well as Equifax Credit/ScoreWatch, and Truecredit.com. (getting expensive, but i havent figured out which one i like the most).

Alot of people recommend using Truecredit.com because its fast at alerting you of changes!
