Cards that come close to/match high limits?

Are there any credit cards that will come close to or match another card's high limit if you request it? A rep at Barclay's mentioned that they would be my highest limit Visa/MC when I reconned to a higher limit a couple years ago so I know they look at what our other limits are. That's still my highest limit card. I'll be requesting a CLI from Cap 1 soon along with possibly applying for a Barclay's rewards card and maybe one from DCU. Wondering if it's worth trying to see if they will come close to or match my highest limit of $8500.

In my previous experience, Cap1 will not match. I asked the EO why this was and their answer was that they are a "conservative lender." I will soon see if Amex will come close to matching NFCU when I hit my day 61 3X CLI. I may only ask for about $24K though because I really dont want to go through 4506-T. I have nothing to hide and actually make more than I list, but it's just a pain. Honestly, anything over $20K for me is basically the same as $20K. I just want it for UTL purposes but I rarely let a balance report so it doesnt matter too much.

I do not think any lender will simply match...it more depends on your profile. In my test I asked Cap1 to match Barclays and BofA card limits as these limits seemed reasonable to me and hey did but I am sure if I had asked them to match Amex it would have been a no go.

I just submitted once recently. Not more painful than faxing any other document.

^ This. Limits are all about credit and income versus criteria. No creditor will just simply match a limit without any other consideration as to one's credit.

How about something along the lines of a person has 4-5 credit cards with limits in the 500-$2500. If that person applies for a new card. I think they'd most likely end up with a card in that starts in that range and not something that starts off at $10k. Now take the same person but he has cards in the $5k-$15k range. The initial credit line would probably be in that range. Granted his scores are probably a little better but I think you see what I'm getting at. I guess it's not matching for the sake of matching but giving a higher limit because the person has shown that they have established themselves and can handle it.

discover doubled my highest limit (1500) for a total of 3000. They more than doubled my DW (2500) for a total if 5500

I read somewhere on the forum that some members got limit matches. I was wondering the same thing because credit card companies are in business to make money so I would think they should want to compete for your business.

the issue with limit matching is all about risk. Capital one thinks they can give me 1500 for me to handle and possibly defualt on. Discover thinks I can handle 3k. All credit card companies would love to give out 50k lines and have everyone pay them back but thats never gonna happen. So credit card companies are also in the business not to lose money. Guess who pays when john smith does not pay his credit card bill? You do with AF,higher APR rates and less rewards.
