Discover APR reduction!

So I decided to chat with Discover today about my APR, I just asked what I needed to do in order to lower it. She came back and said she'd be happy to lower it from 22.99% to 18.3%, Its still a bit high, but certainly better than 22.99%. I thanked her and she said come back again in 3 months and they'll reduce it again. Discover sure wants me to use their card, and I'm more than happy to do that!

And Irisa I hear you there, I just noticed my account has an offer for 0% for 12 months on balance transfers...might move my last two account balances to Discover and use it exclusively (been enjoying the categories). Good luck with your reduction request next month! And thanks for the reply.

just chatted with discover, they lowered my apr from 22.99 to 17.99 it took 2 minutes!

Thank you Wade, I was happy, had the card 3 months went from 1k to 2k and dropped APR almost 5%...feels kinda good!

I just logged on to my discover account just to check what my apr from my most recent statement was. It was 3.99% i think that is part of their intro apr when i applied last year. I couldn't find anywhere where it says how long that intro apr lasts for. On my amex and chase i remember it saying their intro aprs lasted until january 2015. I am kind of curious to find out where i could find out when my intro apr expires. I have an feeling its going to skyrocket to 22.99 %.

I am an nooby i couldn't find the online chat function on discover website , so i just sent an secure email to them asking them about my apr. Hope they get back to me sometime today :-)

Hey that works too, Discover is usually pretty quick with messages so I'm sure you'll hear something today. Maybe that 3.99% is your permanent APR wouldnt that be awesome!!

Lol i wish, i am sure it will go up an lot, when i apped for that discover card my fico score and cr are no where near as clean as they are now :-). Discover still doesn't want to give me an cli so i dont know what their story is :-)

I hear ya, I had to take a HP for an increase but they doubled my limit so I was happy. I use the card every day for just about everything so not having to make a payment every week was nice. Now with the almost 5% drop in APR I have more incentive to use the card (usually pay in full but depends on the month).

I used it an fair amount but its not really my every day card. BCP is on grocery duty, QS is more everyday card. Discover IT does get work from gas and restaurants when those are the categories for 5%

I would love a BCP (or any card for groceries really) but AMEX isnt having me yet and my QS I just dont like as much. Looking forward to gas rewards quarter on Discover, groceries on there would be nice too!

Congrats! Good to know I can try again soon as Discover did not move a single % for me....LOL...they are still completely freaked by my credit expansion in 2013

Discover just dropped my APR from 19.99 down to 16.24, I've had the card for 15 months. First time I asked for a reduction.

This is much better than Barclays, who I had to talk with several friendly people and didn't get anyplace. Barclays did say I could call the CSR's as frequently as once a month to ask if an APR was available if I wanted to Ah well, 21.99% and 20.99% is good, right?

Barclays continues their inconsistent behavior, by granting me a $10,000 Sallie Mae 3 weeks ago at 13.99%, but still I don't qualify to reduce the APR on my older $1600 Sallie Mae from its original 20.99%

In case it wasn't mentioned, you can request the reduction every 6 months.
