What's in your sock drawer?

And why?

Right now my Cash+ is in the SD because Chase Freedom is giving me 5% on restaurants, so I'm putting my cell phone and gym memberships (my own and my ex-father in law's) on Cash+ since both are on auto pay, although I'm considering keeping this setup permanently even if I miss out on 5% at restaurants and fast food (separate categories, grrr). Using Cash+ is just a hassle to me.

Right now my amex costco is getting an little vacation. Getting 5% on restaurants with freedom , and using BCP for gas. Also IT is sort of still in my wallet but it hasn't got used at all since haven't really been to bed and bath this month. I also haven't been really getting any luck with getting sp cli on my IT so i am letting it take an little vacation as well.

Discover It: I can't find a use for this one. The categories too often overlap with Chase Freedom and I've pretty much hitched my wagon to Chase since I bank with them and my Freedom has a very low APR. I want to love and use this card because the customer service is so great, but unless they offer some sort of flat cashback % 1.5 or greater, this is SD'd and I may even close it at some point in the next year.

Citi Diamond Preferred: I'm closing this in July on its four year anniversary. Not useful to me at this point.

Firestone Auto LOC: I may just let this one ride out the SD until it gets closed automatically for inactivity

Elan Financial: Oldest and largest TL with a decent APR, will likely keep this one for age.

My Citi TY and US Bank are in the SD. The TY points really don't do much for me and the US Bank Platinum card was a poor choice of card to app for in the beginning. I would try and PC it to Cash+ but I just dont see myself using it even then.

My QS1 is in but I may just cancel it altogether as I'll never use it again due to the ridiculously high APR that Cap 1 will not lower.

The Discover it is barely getting used, and my Delta is only for flights.

Shell Drive for Five and TD Bank; I'd let Shell die out, but at this point it'll drop my AAoA a little and I'd rather have it for the age until my line-up is more set in stone.

Drive for Five is essentially useless, especially this quarter with 5% with Freedom, and I'm not driving right now so I can't get the 45 gallons of gas per month to snag the 5 cents back.

TD Bank is a 1% card; got it back in 2012 and their 5x has long been over. Will likely swipe every 6 months with that one.

Sapphire is currently sockdrawered due to this quarter as well.

Discover It - No need for home improvement at the moment
Citi Diamond Preferred - Haven't used it in awhile aside from a pack of gum every now and then
US Bank Visa - Now it's my lowest CL ($1500) so I'm boycotting it lol
Citi AAdvantage - Waiting to see if I'm gonna get some luv and upgrade to WEMC version

Bofa and Cap1 (minor automated activity) due to toy limits.

Macy's because I've lost interest in shopping there. And abusive APR.

Not really the same, but almost all of my debit cards are in there too, since I rarely use them; if I need to, I pull them out for a few hours.

Chase may end up in there, highest sub-20% APR and I'm hoping to replace it with CSP someday. But for now it's a good backup card and the categories are nice.

Two cards are currently in my SD:

1. BofA Privileges with Travel Rewards - I only keep this card as a backup in case something happens to Chase. My other cards offer better rewards, so I won't use this one unless I have to. This is also my oldest card so I keep it to boost my AAoA.

2. Citi AA Executive WEMC - I only applied for the 100k signup bonus. I've already met the spending requirement, so there's no need to push any more money through it. I'll end up cancelling around Christmas.

Chevron- better reward cards in my wallet
Macys Amex- better rewards cards in my wallet
Amex HH- currently spraying at Ritz properties and luv my Ritz CC

edit: 8. Citi DMP- no balances to transfer now

9. Amex Delta- rewards are subpar

10. Mutual of Omaha MC- rewards...keep forgetting that card is even in my sd

USAA - tradeline farm

DCU - tradeline farm

Walmart - well sigh, actually used it the other day since I was looking for something I knew Walmart had it and figured I'd generate a statement or two from the purchase.

Mostly SD'd:

Freedom - if it's not a useful quarter, or if I've maxxed out the rewards, natch

BOFA Travel Rewards - only used for forex purchases of which I haven't made any this year so far

Zync - big purchase card, likewise haven't been many in about six months and not likely to be any in the near future

Hrm, I really only have two general purpose cards (BCP / Fidelity Amex), and the business card that I use consistently. Everything else has subpar rewards. Guess I need to yank the Freedom off the SD list as I should carry a personal Visa around too once this quarter is up.

I have the Slate in the sock drawer because I don't use it and it doesn 't give me any points. Ended up transfering most of the limit to the Freedom since I use it a lot more.

Tickets to the Airborne Toxic Event w Calder Quartet at Red Rocks concert that we didn't go to because my dad got pneumonia and we couldn't fly to Denver

Tickets to the upcoming County Fair including parking, rides, food vouchers, etc. (a lot cheaper if you buy ahead of time at Costco)

Tickets to Rounds 2 and 3 of this year's NCAA Men's BB Tournament

Tickets to Elton John at Cesars Palace in Vegas a few years ago

Tickets to Airborne Toxic Event a few year's ago at Disney Symphony Hall

I should go through and clean the unused credit cards out of my wallet though

1. Wells Fargo Rewards - WF gave us 2 free cards with mortgage, use WF Home Rebate for cell phones, not the best reward card but high limit and old so SD'd

2. Citi AA Exec - met spend for sign up bonus

3. Amex Costco TE - only go to Costco a few times a year and got Amex Plat for better travel perks so use that at Costco instead

4. Macy's - don't shop there at all anymore (only keep it for age and good sales on All-Clad pots and pans)

5. Marriott Premier - use Ritz for Marriott/Ritz stays cause Ritz has better travel perks. Marriott will most likely get axed soon since anniversay Category 5 certs are useless for me now with recent deval.

6. CSP - been using Freedom and Palladium for UR combo and seem to always forget to put in wallet.

Shell Card - I can get a lower price at Costco or Walmart, especially with the Costco Amex and Walmart Discover

ShopHq - It was my second card that I got. I occasionally buy a watch on it with the 6 payments.

Cap One Platinum - my first credit card, the APR is the highest of any of my MC, Discover, Amex, and Visa Cards. I should close it, since it has an AF, but I think I'm going to keep it only because it was the first card I got after getting back in the credit game after 20 years of just having a debit card

Chase IHG MC - have other cards. It does have an AF, but I'm keeping it. Because you get one free night a year at any IHG hotels.

NFCU Cash Rewards - Only because its new, with my highest CL and I'm afraid to use it. Going to use the sucker when I go on vacation to New Orleans in August.

I have other cards.. I'm thinking I got too many cards. I can handle them all, but do I really need that many and that much CL?

Pretty much all my cards are SD'd... well they are still in my wallet but I'm not using them until they are all paid off this fall and I can start fresh and get back to PIF like I used to.

a) 2 Penfed Plat Rewards cards: Since nerfing, use real 5x cards for gas. Use abroad for chip&pin, and 3x non-US supermarkets.

b) Citi Plat AA (Visa and Amex) no use except when redeeming AA miles

c) Citi TY Preferred (no use since 5x expired)

d) Citi Premier: nerfed too much, will cancel this month

e) US Bank Cash Plus for now. $2000 quarter spent

f) Cap One QS Visa Sig. User higher limit Plat instead

g) Amalgamated Bank. Don't even have the physical card anymore (they told me they wouldn't sent it, but kept the account open)

h) Chase Amazon (use Forward or Sallie Mae for better rewards)

i) Amex BCE (no use with better cards)

j) CSP: not doing travel, Forward better for dining for me (or Freedom this Q)
