I've been a Citi customer for 7ish years, don't use CS very often but my recent experience with phone CSRs was okay. They couldn't fix some issues I had but not for lack of interest in doing so. They did help with recon on a CLD that was reversed in under 24 hours.

Secure message support has been suboptimal, might just be lost in translation.

EO is great, but of course should be your last line of support, after secure message/phone calls.

Of all the "Big" banks I have dealt with including B of A, Chase, Wells, Barclays, Us Bank and Citi.....in my experience Citi is by far the worst in customer service.

The people there have no clue about the products, many speak poor english, i get transferred endlessly when calling. I just closed my only Citi account and would not get any of their products.

I hope you have a better experience.

I think in many ways, the best bank to deal with is the one you don't actually have to deal with. I'm happiest with my credit union when I don't have to jump through any hoops for them. But when I have to deal with backwaters online banking and CC functionality, it hurts a bit.

But remember, everyone's experience is slightly different, it can vary by your mood and your CSR's mood and the behavior of the computers at the bank, among other things.

My personal experience with Citi: The service I've gotten on their chat online is much better than what I usually get when I make a phone call to them. I mean they aren't that bad for me even on the phone but I'm still a bit sour about not being able to get my APR reduced (there's even something on their site that says that I could get a 0.25% reduction for the months I stay within my limit and pay on time or have the card converted into a TYP for Students) just yet because of how I changed my payment date and how they still have me as having that 0% introductory offer.

I know Citi bashing is the popular thing to do but their CS has been solid for me the couple times I've called in. Helpful attitude and got what I needed done. Certainly no worse than the others in my sig. They do appear to be more stuck by what their system allows them to do than other companies - more need to check with the supervisor.

Keep in mind CS quality varies by what card you have with the CCC. Nothing has topped Amex charge so far in my experience, but I don't have the big guns like JP Morgan or Ritz.

I've never had problems dealing with citi. I had a citi AA amex with an annual fee that I was usually able to get waived by calling. Because I had been a customer since '06, they were always good about waiving the AF. And when I finally decided to close the Amex because I had no use for it, they offered to do a PC to their no AF "bronze" card and the PC was seamless.

If you don't mind me asking, what does PC stand for? I'm still learning all the terms that people here use.

PC = product change

http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/Helpful-Threads/td-p/415263

Citi has been GREAT to me. I have two of their core cards and the HomeDepot card and I have never had any problems with them. They gave me decent limits for my situation and any time I have called they have been very helpful and knowledgable. It would be nice if they had a little bit better product lineup, but I'm not complaining. I consider myself a Citi fan!

But when I have to deal with backwaters online banking and CC functionality, it hurts a bit.

But remember, everyone's experience is slightly different, it can vary by your mood and your CSR's mood and the behavior of the computers at the bank, among other things.

So what are we suppose to do. give them a break?

I wouldn't.

Of course not, as long as you don't expect them to give you a break either. It happens, believe me.

Everyone has a bad day, everyone communicates poorly once in a while, some people even misspell "supposed" ( :-) ), and while it's certainly in everyone's range of options to be unreasonable, rude, or inconsiderate, it's not advisable or necessary.
