American Express Green

I got approved for the american express green about 2 months ago and I'm still super excited. I've already spent $3,000.00 and paid my balance and I wanted to chat with some of you guys that started out with green and moved to gold....how long did it take you to move up? Thanks!!

Some have asked and recieved the upgrade before even getting the card

Give them a call ....won't get the bonus tho

I've already received the green and started using it and paying my balances off in full....so I can ask to upgrade now?

Yep sure can

Also if logged into your account go to CC's and sometimes it labeled upgrade to the right of card

Mine showed up after a month

But for quicker answer give them a call

Amex CSR tries to please customers so you have nothing to lose by asking but check online it might already be there

I just checked online and its not there yet...this is just my second billing cycle so I guess I will give it more time. Maybe I have to spend more money and pay for bills.

Yes...but instead consider just applying for the PRG with bonus now, since the bonus isn't applicable to upgrades.

I've had my Amex Green since January and I have the upgrade offers showing up. My options are the Platinum, PRG, and the Gold Card, however, I am satisfied with my Green. Just wanted to see if there was an option. However, I did notice that AMEX SP'd me a month ago. So maybe that's when the offer came up? So my guess is after 3 months and another SP you have an offer to upgrade.

The upgrade will show but when you attempt to you will be notified that the account is Ineligible.

I have a good friend who works for AMEX. He suggested that it is hard to move to a different product with a higher annual fee within the first year because of the new credit card legislation/rules. I relentlesy attempted to upgrade my Green card during the first year to no avail. As soon as I hit 1 year, I requested a product change to the Premier Gold card and it was approved.

Notably, I received the Premier Gold card with EMV chip. I used it for the first time at Wal*Mart who now allows the Chip + Signature option.

I beleive this is a glitch in the AMEX website. For the first year that I had my Green card, the website continually suggested that I was eligible for an upgrade. However, when I attempted to upgrade my Green card, it would always come back with an error message and suggest that an upgrade wasn't avialable.

As soon as my Green card account hit 1 year, I was able to succesfully upgrade to PRG.

I want to say thank you to all member for your valuable advice, I'm thrill i was just approved for American Express green card. I am working hard on rebuilding my credit and couldnt be happier today!!

I just recently applied for American Express Green Card too; I'm excited to see what the rewards are of having this card. I worked very hard to build my credit as well. So being responsible, paying your bills on time before statement due date and wathcing your credit utilization. Those three things are what helps your credit get built and get the cards you want. I tried Discover and Chase Freedon, I been denied but it is okay. They don't need my business at all. I am happy with capitalone credit card company and others.

I opened my AMEX Green on July 2nd and had the upgrade option on the website two days ago. When I actually pushed the upgrade button it said my account was ineligible. I did a web chat with a CSR and she said my only option was to take another HP and apply and then I could close the green. However, I am unable to apply online because I'm a current AMEX Green cardholder so this time I called and they said they'd have to do an app over the phone. I just said, forget it. Guess I'll wait.

I almost wanna say you should of just applied for the card u really wanted...pretty sure the qualifications are the same for all the charge cards....you can just pay more AF for more benefits and rewards....
