Very UPSET WITH HSBC/ORCHARD BANK!

Today I went online to check my app. status for HSBC card and to my suprise I was declined (what in the world is going on) So I write down the number to call, I then return to the app. status home page and click on the orchard master card app. status and I was approved! (Now I am really confused). I call the first # and

ME:I was calling to find out why was I declined for the HSBC card (I really wanted this card)

CSR: Can I get your SSN.

ME: XXX-XX-XXXX

CSR:Give me just a second to pull up your info!

ME: OK

CSR: May I put you on hold

ME: Sure

(elevator music)

CSR: mam I am on hold can you continue to hold

ME: Sure

(more elevator music)

CSR: mam I am still on hold can you continue to hold

ME: Sure

(Even more elevator music)

CSR: Mam I appologize for the long wait, Jenny are you there?

CSR 2: Hi this is jenny from vexx.

CSR: MS CaHarting

ME: Its Carrington

CSR: I am sorry mam, thank you for calling HSBC Card servises have a nice day.

ME:Thank you & you have a nice day too!

CSR2: Hello Ms Carrington

ME: Hello. I was calling to find out why I was declined

CSR2: Can you verify your SSN?

ME:xxx-xx-xxxx

CSR2: Mam you were declined because you were approved for the Orchard MC.

MEwhat in the hell) Can you repeat that?

CSR2: Mam you were declined because you were approved for the Orchard MC. Mam they are basiclly the same card so you can reapply in 90days to get the HSBC card!

ME: (A lil upset and confused) Well isnt it my choice if I want to have 2 simular cards in my wallet? CSR2: well yes it is!

ME:I have never had to beg a CCC to take my money what kind of operation are you guys running there?

CSR: (She laughs)

ME: (did she really think I was joking?) (So a little more pissed not yet at a frustrated level) Well since you all didnt go solely off of my CR can you remove the inquiry?

CSR2: Well I am not a credit specialist so I cannot guaranty you that I can!

ME:Its not fair for my score to drop because of a inquiry that you all dont even take into consideration! CSR2:I understand, why dont you apply for the visa

ME: Can you all use the inquiry that you have already pulled?

CSR2: I am unsure mam, but you can call this number and the can further asist you with with all of your questions.

ME: They can answer the questions about the inquiry?

CSR2: Yes mam. The number is 877-700-4722

ME: Oh I got another question for you.

CSR2: OK

ME: If I do apply for the visa do I have to apply online or can I apply over the phone?

CSR2: Oh you can apply over the phone. You should be approved, just call that number that I gave you and they will do your applcation over the phone.

ME: O, Thank you!

CSR2: You are welcome mam, is there anything else I can help you with?

ME:No thank you

CSR2:And THank you for your interest in our card, you have a nice day

ME:You too.

That phone call was over an hour and that was only the first call out of 4! I will spare you all the details! Long story short after calling all 3 other numbers, I found out that the 2nd CSR should not have told me that I should be approved (They take that as her stating pre approval!, The 3rd CSR did not know what a soft/Hard pull was, The Supervisor was even less help than the CSR! There is nothing that they are willing to do to help me, and last but mot least HSBC have a lottttttttttttttttt of phone numbers!

Do anyone know if there is something that can be done about the inquiry?

HSBC will not allow more than 1 Credit card with them unless you are invited to apply for a 2nd card-

I concur. And they won't check if before harding your CR either.

That sucks! Now that you said that why would she tell me to apply for a visa, if they dont allow you to have more than one card?

I WAS JUST TALKING TO MY AUNT! SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE HAS A VISA AND MASTER CARD FROM HSBC! I ASKED HER WHEN DID SHE GET THEM SHE SAID WITHING 2-3 DAYS OF EACH OF EACH OTHER!

As mentioned, you can't have an Orchard product AND have an HSBC product. You could have had both if you appd for HSBC first, maybe.

Also as mentioned, anything from HSBC is less than gold. They charge fees and charge an AF.

Yes I did ask and she said that she applied for the visa and the mc! She got both!

If you real like HSBC why dont you try for HSBC Direct Rewards Discover Card. There is no AF for the card and much better in terms.

I'm guessing that this was just meant as a general advisory. It's an e-mail etiquette point that all caps = hostility, and many people have carried this over to online sites in general. So even when it's not meant to be hostile, an all-caps post often registers on your brain that way.

Anyway, for those of us who do a lot of reading on the forums, anything that makes it easier on our poor eyeballs is a good thing!

Ok, I have an Orchard card and doing business with this company is slightly hilarious and slightly histerics.......I have one 30 day late which occurred because I totally didnt get the biil that month and forgot to check online (when I wasnt on point with my credit). They will not remove it.......there like well mam we didnt do anything wrong so its your problem.......fine I'm still fighting that one

The one that kills me is when they gave me a $100 dollar credit increase and charged me $25 for it....lmho so I call them am like why am I charged $25 and there like cuz we gave u a credit increase.....so I say if your gonna charge me for a credit increase you could of given me more then a $100 increase I have paid my bill on time(accept that once) and never been over limit. So they tell me well u should definitly take the credit increase because your card doesnt increase much more anyway then that.......what can I say............sometimes you have to just laugh!

This is definitely one of those paying-your-dues cards. Stay under their radar as much as possible, pay in full every month --a good 10 days before your statement date, two months before your one-year birthday stop using the card entirely and start paying it off whenever you can. Whenever you legitimately get to a final $0 balance, print that off and save it, and keep on going. With luck, you will be able to force them to admit that you are paid in full, and they really can't extort any more fees from you. At this point, close it down.

These cards are only meant to help you get back on your feet. They aren't going to work with you; they aren't going to grow with you. They are crutches, and once you can walk on your own 2 feet again, let them go. Good luck! (for anyone dealing with these schmucks.)

Good point out with the pay 10 days in advance! I have heard that some ccc's are holding payments 10 days now!

I have both and I never recieved and invatation. They are only good as a starter card. Once you see your CR improve dump them.
